David Lawrence Berry

November 11, 1942 ~ June 28, 2022

A connoisseur of conversations, the daily stock market report, Idaho lottery tickets and Costco samples, our cherished brother, uncle, friend, and adopted grandfather, David Lawerence Berry unexpectedly passed away at the age of 79 from natural causes in his beloved mountain home on June 28, 2022.  Unable to say goodbye and express our love, we grieve his loss of friendship and comraderie.

Dave was born on November 11, 1942 in Canton, Ohio to Fred and Helen Berry. He was happily an only child until his baby sister Nancy stole the limelight when she was born nine years later. Growing up, Nancy shared many fond adventures with her doting older brother. When Nancy married Mark Colerick and moved to Texas, her sibling bond with David remained forever strong through phone calls and visits.

David graduated from Ben Lomond High School and briefly attended Weber State College, then joined the Navy as a Seabees and honorably served in Oxnard, California, Bermuda, Puerto Rico, and Vietnam. Dave then worked at Boeing Aircraft in Utah and Washington until he retired. Dave's entertaining stories of his Navy service, boating adventures in Canada and Alaska, and other escapades will also be missed.

On a fateful winter day in 1975, Dave and his big red, Dodge truck gave the Burton children and their single mother a ride up an icy hill to their mountain top home in Eden, Utah. As hilltop neighbors, it was the start of a lifelong companionship between Marilyn Burton and her then teenage children Jeff, Paula, Scott, and Eric. Rides up the hill, blended into decades of shared dinners, outings, holidays, marriages, grandchildren, life events, and adventures. Dave became a deeply woven part of the Burton extended family tapestry. His death has left a hole that can never be filled.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Helen Berry and his beloved cat of eighteen years, Princess. He is survived by his sister, Nancy (Mark) and his nephews and niece, Matthew (Jennifer), Joe (Christy)and Katie (Haydn) and eight grandnieces and nephews.

Friends and family are invited to gather at a Celebration of Life honoring Dave on Saturday, August 20, 2022, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Burton Family home located at 2241 Panorama Circle, Eden, Utah.
