Listen to Obituary

David Earl Allen passed away peacefully in his sleep on November 28, 2025, at the age of 93. David was born on January 7, 1932, in Rusk, Texas to Robert Earl Allen and Verna Lee Crawford Allen. David later moved with his family to Yucaipa, California. It was during his junior high years that he met his future wife, Florena Pearl Simer (“Flo”), when he went to his next door neighbor’s house to get help tying his necktie.

Following high school, David joined the United States Marine Corps, where he served with honor as a Staff Sergeant during the Korean Conflict. It was during his time as a Marine that David accepted the Lord and committed his life to faithfully serving God. During his time in Korea, David and Flo played a game of checkers, using thumb tacks and a piece of corkboard with squares drawn on it. David would make a move and mail it to Flo, who would then make a move and mail it back to David. This game continued the entire time David was deployed. When he returned home, they finished the checker game and were married on September 4, 1954.

Following his service with the Marine Corps, David was employed by the United States Air Force. In 1965, this career brought David, Flo, and their two young children to northern Utah. Throughout their time in Utah, David and Flo have helped start a number of churches – North Park Baptist Church, Kaysville Bible Church, Provo Bible Church, and Roy Bible Church. David served on the board of Kaysville Bible Church until he passed away.

David’s life was marked by his devotion to his wife, family, church, country, and the people who were fortunate enough to know him. He will be remembered for his steadfast faith in God, his humor, and his commitment to helping others.

He is survived by his spouse of 71 years, Florena Allen, his son, Rod Allen (Jackie) of Philomath, Oregon, and his daughter Sonnet Allen-VanPatten (Peter), of Roy, Utah, as well as five grandchildren, Chelsea Allen, Tangent, Oregon; Nigel Allen, Portland, Oregon, Colin Allen, Tangent, Oregon, Brogan Stampick (Jacob), Ogden, Utah and Haille VanPatten, Ogden, Utah, and two great grandsons, Lex and Luca Stampick. David was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Verna Lee Allen, his sisters Betty Ruth, Barbara, and Berta, and his brothers, Archie Bob and Jack.

A celebration of life will be held Friday, December 5, 2025, at 5:00 pm at Kaysville Bible Church, 200 North and Flint, in Kaysville, Utah.
