Daryl Jolene Vandehei, age 87, of West Haven, Utah, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2026, surrounded by her beloved husband, Jack Vandehei, and loved ones.
Daryl was born on August 6, 1938, in Ogden, Utah, to Syble Evon Wheler and Joseph Smith Lowther, Jr. She was raised in Ogden and attended Weber High School.
Daryl married Jack Vandehei on January 26, 1956, in Ogden. They were married for 70 years.
Throughout her life, Daryl was known for her kindness, strength, generosity, and creativity. She had a warm spirit and quick wit that brought laughter to those around her.
Daryl found joy in creating with her hands. She loved crocheting, knitting, painting watercolors, sewing, and weaving blankets for family and friends. She also treasured time spent cooking, playing cards, and making memories with her loved ones at their family cabin and traveling the world with her husband, the center of her life and greatest pride.
Daryl is survived by her devoted husband, John “Jack” Vandehei; her children, Michael (Sally) Vandehei, Jari Oyler, and Scott (Tiffany) Vandehei; as well as 9 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son, Brad Lee Vandehei; her parents, Syble and Joseph Lowther; her brother, Val Lowther, and her sisters, Gayle Lowther Dodge and Sharon Rae Lowther.
Daryl will be remembered for her witty banter, her deep love of her family, and the special bond she shared with her husband, Jack. Her presences brought comfort, laughter, and love to those who knew her.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Ogden City Cemetery.
