Darwin Ursel Hansen, 85 of Syracuse, passed peacefully on October 1, 2025 in St. George, Utah.
He was born in Tremonton, Utah on August 15, 1940 to Ursel Leon and Leona Sparks Hansen.
Darwin attended and graduated from Bear River High. He was raised in Bear River, Corinne, and Brigham City. Darwin served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Little Rock Arkansas Mission.
On February 24, 1961 he married his sweetheart Linda Ruth Ritter in the Logan LDS Temple.
Darwin was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where he served in many Priesthood callings including: High Council, Bishopric Counselor, Bishop, High Priest Group, Ward Missionary Leader, Patriarch for 20 years and Temple activity.
Darwin loved his family and they came first. He had a love of the outdoors, fishing, camping and family vacations, ATV'ing with friends, bicycle riding, love for farming, gardening, horses and old cars and trucks, reading scriptures, church activity, attending the temple. He had a love for everyone and a love for every day of life. He was a long time resident of Syracuse and St. George, Utah.
He is survived by his loving wife Linda; children, Wayne Darwin (Jenny) Hansen, Jay Max Hansen, Janae Ruth (Daren) Davenport, Jodi Ann (Burton) Wilson, and Steven Glade (Amanda) Hansen; 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; brother Leslie (Julie) Hansen, sister Mary (Mel) Ritter; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Darwin was preceded in death by his father Darwin Ursel Hansen, his mother Leone Sparks Hansen; brother Lynn Jay Hansen, and his sister Nelds LeAnn Hansen.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025 at 11:00 am at Lindquist's Syracuse Mortuary, 869 South 2000 West. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday from 6-8 pm and on Friday 9:30-10:30 am prior to the services at the mortuary. Interment, Syracuse City Cemetery.
