Darrell A. Seamons

OGDEN a€" Our loving father, Darrell A. Seamons, was reunited with his wife, Doris, on Tuesday, April 17, 2007. He passed away peacefully at the Ogden LDS Temple while doing the work he so faithfully and dearly enjoyed. He was 86 years of age.

He was born in Smithfield, Utah on December 1, 1920, the son of Arthur George and Ivy Temple Covey Seamons. He spent his youth in the Cache Valley Area and graduated from So. Cache High.

During WWII, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he was assigned to various duties while stationed in Pensacola, Florida.

On May 16, 1942, Darrell married Doris Hadley, his eternal companion, in Cicero, Illinois. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They spent 62 wonderful years together.

He worked for the U.S. Postal Service and HAFB, where he retired from in 1977. He also owned his own TV repair service, which he continued doing long after his retirement.

As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Darrell served in several callings, including a dedicated home teacher, Stake Young Men''s President, High Councilman and Bishop of the Ogden 30th Ward. He and Doris also served in the Monroe Branch presidency at Fellowship Manor, a calling that they dearly loved.

He was a hard worker and a jack of all trades. As an avid golfer, Darrell enjoyed his weekly golf games with his lifelong friends and his brother, Dick. He loved all sports and wouldn''t miss a ball game on TV! He was thoroughly devoted to his family, a man of great integrity, patient and kind to all he met. Although small in stature, he was a spiritual giant, who was faithful to the end.

We will miss him dearly, love him forever, and treasure the memories he left.

Surviving are his four daughters, Carol (Scott) Hadley, West Weber; Nancy (Phil) Hadley, Kaysville; Peggy (Gary) Boyer, South Ogden; Cindy (Brent) Campbell, Roy; his daughter-in-law, Cheryl Seamons, Roy; 20 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Darrell currently has one grandson serving the Mission Field.

Also surviving are two brothers, Jack (Connie) Seamons, St. George; Dick (LaVoe) Seamons, Pleasant View; and two sisters, Helen Ferguson, South Ogden; Bonnie (LaMont) Hall, Pleasant View.

Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Clyn and Arthur Seamons, one sister, Erma Bell, his only son, Michael and his wife, Doris.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the Foothills Ward Chapel, 1475 Cahoon (between 23rd and 24th on Polk Ave.), with Bishop Tim Malan officiating.
