Darrell David Harris

September 15, 1921 ~ June 1, 2016

Darrell David Harris, 94, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2016.  He was born to David and Vera Parker Harris in Layton, Utah on September 15, 1921.  He spent his youth in Layton and after graduating from high school he joined the US Navy.  He proudly served our country for four years.

Darrell married Joyce Jacobson and they had three children. They later divorced.  Darrell married Selma “Sam” Meyer.  Darrell and Sam’s combined posterity includes seven children, 21 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Darrell worked for Hertz of Ogden, then later owned and operated Harris Upholstery.  He also worked and retired from the Ogden Defense Depot.

Darrell was baptized after accepting Jesus as his Savior.  He loved nature and enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, and traveling with family.

Surviving are his wife, Sam; daughter, Linda (Dennis) Weaver, Ogden; sons, Russell Harris, Ogden and Greg (Gloria) Harris, Libby, MT; Dr. Ron (Jean ) Meyer, Golden, CO; Brent (Pat) Meyer, Centennial, CO; Vicki (David) Berrett, Layton; Margo (Jerry) Culwell, South Ogden.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Mountain View Baptist Church, 2585 East 3000 North, Layton.  Friends may visit with family on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., and Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.  Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.

The family would like to thank Pioneer Care Center staff and Tiffany and Kelly from Bristol Hospice for their kindness and care of our husband and father.

He never forgot us – we will never forget him!
