Danny Lawrence

Danny R. Lawrence

Danny R. Lawrence peacefully passed from this life with much of his family at his side, and went home to heaven on 9 June 2016.  Danny was born in Dimmitt, Texas on March 13, 1946 as the second child of DC and Eloise Lawrence – they had previously passed on as well to collect their great reward, as had his youngest brother Daryl.  He is survived by his brother John and sister Suzie who reside in Texas.  Danny has been married to his beloved wife Judy for 50 years, who stayed devotedly at his side during his last remaining days with us.  He is also survived by his five children Wade, Diane, Michael, Ellyn, and Carin; as well as their spouses.  Danny has always been extremely proud of his children, particularly since each graduated with a bachelor’s degree from a Christian college.  He dearly loved his seventeen grandchildren, one of whom is already with him in paradise.  He was also very happy to meet his first great-granddaughter in May.

First and foremost, Danny was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ, and he walked the narrow path as a baptized believer his entire life.  He was a devoted member of the Wasatch church of Christ for the past 39 years, and could always be seen at every single service until his health began to decline, setting a great example for his family and his brothers and sisters in Christ.  He was renowned as a Bible scholar and teacher, church Treasurer, and a big teddy bear around young children.

Danny enlisted in the US Air Force in 1964, and spent 20 years selflessly serving his country as a skilled radio and aircraft electronics technician.  He served at Carlswell and Dyess Air Force Bases in Texas, Kinchloe Air Force Base in Michigan, was a Vietnam War veteran having served supporting the war from Thailand and Guam, and served overseas in Libya and Germany.  His last tour of duty was at Hill Air Force Base in Utah, where he retired at the grade of Master Sergeant in 1984.  He then completed his Bachelor’s Degree and started his second career working as a quality assurance manager.  Danny was employed by Eaton-Kenway in Bountiful, Honeywell in West Valley City, and Westest Engineering in Farmington.  Only a few weeks before his passing, he guided Westest to achieving ISO 9001 certification in record time, a significant feat.

Danny had a wide range of hobbies through his life, including bowling, golfing, RC model planes, astronomy, firearms, and coins.  He also enjoyed old westerns and comedies, golden oldies music, Star Trek, Fox News, and cheering for the Dallas Cowboys and Utah Jazz through the TV screen.

Danny’s memorial service will be held Wednesday June 15 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Wasatch Church of Christ, 145 West 800 North, Clearfield, Utah. In lieu of flowers, Mom would appreciate contributions made to either the Lubbock Christian Schools, or the New Mexico Children’s home.  Donations can be sent to the Wasatch Church of Christ at the address above, with a note indicating it is being made in Danny’s memory.

Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary 1867 No. Fairfield Rd. Layton.
