Listen to Obituary

Daniel Eugene Tuttle, 57, of Layton, Utah, passed away on January 13, 2026, at his home. Dan was a father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was born on March 4, 1968, in Alamogordo, New Mexico to Lyn and Charlie Tuttle. Dan was the youngest of three and joined his older brother and sister. He spent most of his life in Layton, Utah, and graduated with high honors from Layton High School in 1986. Dan earned a teaching degree from Weber State College in 1989. Teaching was a great passion of his and he spent 20 years teaching in Davis County at E.G. King Elementary in Layton and Colombia Elementary in Kaysville. Mr. Tuttle especially loved teaching history, reading aloud, and playing with the students at recess. He was a well-loved teacher.

Dan was an avid reader of anything to do with the Civil War and was able to visit many historical battle sites. He also loved the Celtics and the Boston Red Sox.

Dan married his high school sweetheart, Debbie Bolles, in 1988. That marriage produced his only child, his son – Jackson. Though Dan and Debbie were later divorced, they remained good friends until his death. Dan later married Jeannie Wall. They were later divorced. He then married Jana Robinson in 2011, that marriage ended in divorce. His fourth wife, Maria del Rosario preceded him in death in April 2025.

By far, Dan’s greatest joy in life and the accomplishment he was most proud of, was his son, Jackson. He spent countless hours when he was young, reading to him, playing with him, and coaching him – especially in baseball. Jackson and his three precious daughters (Dan’s granddaughters) brought him indescribable happiness. They loved it when Grandpa Deno would come over and play with them or take them to do fun things.

Dan is survived by his son Jackson and daughter-in-law Lizzie, three beautiful granddaughters: Rosie, Lola, and Sunny, his sister Pam Oberg and brother-in-law Karl Oberg, and his dog Deno. He is also survived by many other friends, colleagues, neighbors, and former family members. A special thank you to two of Dan’s childhood and lifelong friends, Ron Cunningham and Steve Brown.

Dan was preceded in death by his wife Rosario, father Charlie Tuttle, mother Lyn Tuttle, and brother Allen Tuttle.
