Colonel Dallas M. Liddle, USAF, Ret.

WEST POINT a€" Colonel Dallas M. Liddle passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at Rocky Mountain Care Center from causes incident to age. He was born in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada on January 27, 1930 to Frank W. Liddle and Gladys Green Liddle.

Col. Liddle was a distinguished and decorated veteran of the Vietnam War where he was a jet fighter pilot. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1947 and enrolled in Utah State University, Logan, UT in 1950 where he was commissioned through ROTC in 1952. In 1953, he entered pilot training at Bainbridge Air Base, Georgia and later received his advanced pilot wings at Laredo AFB, Texas. He was rated in several different aircraft including the T-6 (Bainbridge AB), T-33 (Laredo AFB and Vance AFB, OK, where he was an instructor pilot), RF-84 (Luke AFB, AZ and Kadena AB, Japan) RF-86 (Yokota AB, Japan), F-4 (Homestead AFB, FL and Cam Rahn Bay, Vietnam) where he flew over 200 combat missions. He also was stationed at Elmendorf AFB, AK and retired from Hill AFB, UT as Division Chief, Quality Control Division, and Directorate of Maintenance. Colonel Liddle was rated at command pilot.

In 1962, he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management from the University of Colorado where he graduated summa cum laude. He received his Master of Science Degree in Logistics Management from the Air Force Institute of Technology in 1967. He enjoyed flying, golfing, fishing, hunting, skiing and reading. He became a real estate agent after retiring from the U.S. Air Force in 1980.

He was a member of the Order of Daedalians, American Fighter Pilots'' Association and American Legion Post 134, Clearfield. Colonel Liddle was a recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross, Meritorious Service Medal, 16 Air Medals, Air Force Commendation Medal and several other awards and decorations.

He married Marianne Mohan in November 1949. They were later divorced. He married Sylvia Aldrich LeMons-Liddle in June 1982; however, they have been together for 35 years. He is survived by his wife and four children: Brooke (Julie) Dillon Patrick Liddle of West Palm Beach, FL; Tracy Lynn Rebecah Liddle of New Braunfels, TX; Haden Quinn (Agnieszka) Liddle of Huntington Beach, CA; Shannon Kali Liddle of Oklahoma City, OK: sister, Audrey West of Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada; step-son, Robert LeMons of Broken Arrow, OK; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and his faithful dog, Toby.

Colonel Liddle was predeceased by his son, Scott Kenton Michael Liddle and step-daughter, Lori Lynn LeMons.

A celebration of life will be held Friday, January 27, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit family on Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist''s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Road, where military honors will be accorded by the HAFB Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to American Legion, Clearfield, Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, Kanab, UT and No More Homeless Pets in Salt Lake City, UT.

The family would like to thank the wonderful care Colonel Liddle received from the nurses, CNAs and staff at the Care Center. Also, thanks to Doctors Darin Checketts, Paul Barney and Daniel Humiston for their care.
