Listen to Obituary

Dale A Jennings, 60, of Layton, Utah, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2025, after a courageous battle with Early Onset Frontal Temporal Dementia, surrounded by the family he so deeply loved. Born on July 8, 1965, in Ogden, Utah, to Dearden and Lavon Jennings, Dale’s life was defined by faith, family, laughter, and the great outdoors.

A graduate of Ogden High School in 1983, Dale lettered in cross country before attending Weber State University to study zoology. When he learned his chosen career would keep him from hunting season openings, he changed paths and became a master electrician in 1998. Over two decades, Dale worked on countless projects—among his favorites were the Ogden Children’s Museum, Eccles Theatre, and Odyssey Elementary. Each job carried his signature blend of craftsmanship and joy, often leaving a hidden mark of family love, like his children's names etched into ductwork. His family often joked he should have added constellations in the starlit ceiling of the Eccles Theatre.

Dale met the love of his life, Stacy, at Camp Bartlett while serving as a Scout leader. After seven years of “rom-com” worthy encounters, they married in the Jordan River Temple on September 2, 1989. Together, they raised two children, Kelsey and Drake — the achievements he took the most pride in. He lovingly supported his children in every pursuit—coaching, building science projects, and staying close to home to never miss a moment.

An Eagle Scout, Dale’s love for adventure and the wilderness was unmatched. Whether hunting, 4-wheeling and rock climbing in Moab, or swapping jokes and stories around a campfire, Dale was a true “Survivor Man” and all knew we would return home safely from every adventure.

A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Dale served a mission in Hawaii, where he developed a lifelong affection for the islands and the Hawaiian people. While there he developed a deep and abiding love for the gospel. He was a humble teacher, a steady example, and a quiet spiritual strength to all who knew him. He loved serving in youth programs, scout camps, girls camps, and treks, sharing his knowledge of the gospel and love of the outdoors. His testimony was quiet yet powerful, his faith unshakable.

Dale is survived by his wife, Stacy; children Kelsey and Drake; mother Lavon; siblings Janine (David) Doane, Marcene (Mark) DeYoung, and Doug (Dawn) Jennings; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Dearden Jennings; brother-in-law, Chad Richards; niece, Janelle Richards; and nephew, Colton Richards.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel Hills Ward Chapel, 1290 Church Street, Layton, Utah. Family and friends may visit Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd., Layton, Utah and Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church prior to the service.

Interment will follow at Lindquist Washington Heights Memorial Park.

The family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to CNS Hospice for their compassionate care. As Mosiah 16:8 reminds us, “...the grave hath no victory.” Dale would want us all to remember his motto: “Laugh often, it helps!”
