Cresencio V. Castanares, 83 years old, was born on July 6, 1940, and passed away on February 20, 2024. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie; his three children, Christine (Kraig) Ware, Michelle (Dean) Kawaguchi, and William (Stephanie) Castanares; and eight grandchildren, Bradley, Tyler, Leilani, Nicholas, Erika, Alexander, Cameron, and Madeline.
Cres was educated at St. Teresa School and St. Louis High School in Honolulu, and the University of Washington School of Engineering in Seattle. Cres had a career as an engineer at Boeing Aeronautics to support himself through college.
In 1961, he married fellow engineering student, Marjorie, at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Seattle, Washington. In 1962, they welcomed baby Christine and returned home to Hawaii. Cres then started a career in insurance and securities sales with Atlas Insurance. He later founded Pioneer Hawaii Insurance Agency which he owned and operated until he sold it to move to Oregon. There he created a life in real estate.
Cres is remembered fondly by all he met. He touched their hearts and brightened their day through his ability to make others smile and laugh. Always up for engaging with others, he led an active life. His deep love and affection for animals and children will never be forgotten.
We would like to thank all the wonderful people of Hidden Valley Assisted Living and A Plus Hospice with Dr. Gary Holland and his fabulous team for all their invaluable care of our husband and father, Cres.
Private services will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church. A livestream of the services will be available. To watch the livestream, scroll to the bottom of Cres’ obituary.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, the family requests that you donate to your local animal rescue shelter.
