Craig R. Shiner, 86, of Bountiful, Utah, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2026. Craig was born October 28, 1939, in Price, Utah to his parents Elmo Vernon Shiner and Melba Richens Shiner. He served a successful mission in Brazil. While there he met and later reconnected with his eternal companion, Norma Jean (Mills) Shiner and they married on April 11, 1963, in the Logan, Utah temple. Craig earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Utah and his MBA from Westminster University.

Craig was never one to shy away from work. He worked in sales and accounting and wrapped up his first career as a CFO and business consultant. In his second career he continued to work at Bountiful Ridge Golf Course and Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary, where he welcomed people with his friendly smile and quick wit. He finally retired at 86. His retirement lasted 3 months and to him it was 3 months too many. Craig loved to stay busy and be useful to others.

Craig loved to serve others, especially the youth. He mentored several young men through scouting and his youth church callings. He served in the Salt Lake and Bountiful Temples for over 30 years. He was so proud that all five of his boys were Eagle Scouts and returned missionaries.

Craig used to say, he ran 20 miles every day when he was a kid. He played just about every sport but was best at long distance running. He ran track in high school and college and competed at the highest level. His passion sport was golf. He started playing as a child and kept playing into his 80s. He used to say his dream way to end this life was to play a round of golf, eat lunch, and lie down on the couch for a final nap. We hope they have some open tee times in heaven.

Craig is survived by his five sons: Jon, Rob, Scott (Kim), Dan (Aubrey), and Tom (Laurel); his siblings Sharon, David, Ricky, and Larry; his 20 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his wife Norma Jean (Mills) Shiner; parents Elmo Vernon Shiner and Melba Richens Shiner; sister Kay Shiner; daughter in law Julie Shiner; grandchildren Colby Rasmason and Jake Shiner.

Craig embodied the motto, “Life is a marathon,” and he ran right up to his final year. He lived life to the fullest. He worked hard, played hard, and served many. He will be missed.
