Cora Maye Cantrell Haynes

Feb 27, 1940 ~ June 15 2021

On Tuesday, June 15, 2021 in the early morning hours our loving mother slipped away peacefully to be with other loved ones in heaven in Layton, Utah where she raised her four loving children, she was 81.

Cora was a proud daughter of Samuel Douglas Cantrell and Doris (Guy) Cantrell. She grew up in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma    Cora was the middle child. sister Doris Ann Sprigs and still living Sammie Lou Cantrell Newport.

Cora worked at Clearfield Job Corp in Clearfield, Utah as an Administrative Assistant for many years while raising her four children in Layton, Utah. Donna Maye Haynes, Curtis Samuel Haynes, Freddy Guy Haynes and Steven William Haynes.

Cora had 10 grandchildren: Adam Haynes, Jasen Haynes, Tiffany Haynes Bennett, Jesse Haynes, Zachery Haynes, Nolan Haynes, Steven Jr Haynes, Desiree Haynes, Ashley Haynes, and Michael Haynes, and 15 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Cora lived in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Stratford, Oklahoma, Grand Junction, Colorado, until she moved back to Layton, Utah to be close to her children and grandchildren.

Cora loved to play the piano and organ at her church which she attended for many of years.

Cora’s greatest joy was being a mother and grandmother.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held Friday, June 18, 2021 at Layton Hills Baptist Church from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm. 1332 N Hill field Road Layton, Utah 84041.

The Family would like to thank Washington Terrace and Pheasant View Assisted Living Centers.  In lieu of flowers the family suggests you take a moment and remember a fond memory of Cora.
