Claudia Holt McCann

Claudia Holt McCann, 82, passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2022.  She was born July 15, 1940, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Ken and Verdell Holt.  They moved to Clearfield, Utah, where she attended school and graduated from Davis High School.

Claudia attended the University of Utah and Weber State College.  While attending the U of U, she worked as an usherette at Derk’s Field, home of the Salt Lake Bees.

Claudia worked in many administrative capacities, including Ken Holt Company (Father), U.S. Forest Service, Internal Revenue Service, C & H Auto Parts (Brother), Clover Club Foods, and others. 

While working at the I.R.S., she met Lue McCann.  They were married in July of 1965 in Ogden, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.  They had a very special marriage for 55 years and were totally devoted to one another.  They resided in Ogden, and then made Kaysville their home for over 20 years.  They later moved to South Ogden in 1995.  In 2021 she moved to Apple Tree assisted Living in Kaysville.

She has been an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many positions. Claudia loved music and was very gifted at both the Organ and Piano.

Claudia loved to travel, and she and Lue visited many beautiful places throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico.  Claudia and her family frequently visited Yellowstone National Park where they enjoyed fishing and sightseeing.

She was an outstanding wife, mother, sister, grandma, great-grandma, and friend.

She is survived by two sons, Kevin (Shelly), Kaysville, UT; Ryan (Jenny), Mayo, FL; stepdaughter LuAnn (Alton) Newbold, Jacksonville, NC; brother Gordon Holt, Syracuse, UT; sister Rebecca (Dave) Peart, Pagosa Springs, CO; 15 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Lue, her parents, sister-in-law, stepson, and stepdaughter Sandra Poulsen.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Rd., Layton, Utah.  Friends may visit family Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
