Clarence Kenneth Brown III, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2026.
Bud was the beloved son of Evelyn Jeraldine Brown and Clarence Kenneth Brown Jr. Raised in Ogden, he graduated from Ben Lomond High in 1972, grounded by the closeness of his family and guided throughout his life by the enduring values of love, loyalty, and hard work.
On July 7, 1972, Bud married his high school sweetheart, Stephanie Kisel. Together, they shared more than five decades of marriage, building a life rooted in love, faith, and family. He was a devoted father to his two daughters, Jennifer and Trish, and a proud grandfather to Brock and Tyson Sugden, as well as Cole, Harlee and Coy Ortiz.
Bud had many passions in life. He had a small farm and found joy and peace in working the land. Horses held a special place in his heart, and he spent countless hours horseback riding. Music was another love of Bud’s---he proudly played drums for The Saddle Strings Cowboy Band for many years. Some of his most treasured memories were made fishing with his family at Strawberry Reservoir, where laughter and stories were shared freely.
In 2017, Bud and Stephanie were blessed with the opportunity to travel to Israel. During that trip, Bud was baptized as a Christian in the Jordan River. He also visited the Wailing Wall, the tomb where Jesus was laid to rest and walked where Jesus walked in the Garden of Gethsemane---an experience that deeply strengthened his faith and remained close to his heart.
Bud is survived by his loving wife, Stephanie Brown; his daughters, Trish (Tyler) Sugden and Jennifer (Saun) Ortiz; and his five adored grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Nondas (Robert) Smith of Tennessee; Dorcas Stone of Riverdale; brothers Bill (Nancy) Brown and Jack (Shelly) Brown, both of Ogden; and sister-in-law Donna Brown of Ogden.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Kenneth Brown Jr.; his mother, Evelyn Jeraldine Brown; and his brothers, Kim and Scott Brown.
In accordance with Bud’s wishes, a private celebration of life will be held with immediate family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Washington Heights Church Celebrate Recovery Program in South Ogden in Bud’s memory.
Bud will be remembered for his strong faith, gentle spirit, love of family, and the steady rhythm he brought to the lives of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
Our family extends our deepest gratitude to the teams at Intermountain Health and Atlas Homecare & Hospice for their exceptional care. We are especially thankful to Ashley and Misty for the extraordinary compassion and kindness they showed Bud.
