Clara Mora Acosta Martinez

Clara Martinez (Mora Acosta), 74, of West Haven, Utah, passed away on October 27, 2025, surrounded by family.

Clara was born on December 2, 1950, to Pedro Mora Ramirez and Maria de Jesus Acosta Alonso in Torreón, Coahuila, Mexico.

In 1972, Clara served as a full-time missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was assigned to labor in the Mexico, Mexico South Mission.

Clara married Jaime Martinez Dovali in Torreón, Mexico on October 11, 1974, and they were sealed for eternity in the Salt Lake City Temple on October 16, 1974. Clara and Jaime went on to have four children, Estrella, Carlos, Jaime, and Eduardo Otoniel.

Clara is survived by her loving husband, Jaime; her four children, Estrella (Martin), Carlos (Zenaida), Jaime (Rebecca), and Eduardo Otoniel (Natalie); her grandchildren, Carlos, Moroni, Martin, Emma, Benjamin, Spencer, Logan, Levi, Lance, Evan, Grace, Stephen, and Alexander; her siblings, Maria de Jesus (Guillermo), Irma (Alan), Margarita, Maria del Refugio (Jaime), Cuauhtemoc (Quica), Cuitlahuac (Monica), Nefi (Lucy), and Xochitl (Victor); her brother-in-law, Guillermo and sister-in-law Maria; as well as many nieces and nephews and their progeny.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Pedro and Maria de Jesus; her siblings, Alfredo, Ramiro, Dalinda, Maria de la Paz, and Pedro; as well as six angel grandbabies.

Clara’s primary focus in life was the gospel of Jesus Christ, and she emulated His loving nature. Because of that, when she began a relationship with Jaime, she immediately shared the gospel with him. She would share what made her happiest with everyone. She loved working in a pre-school with little ones until a stroke limited her mobility. Even being wheelchair-bound the last 19 years of her life, she looked for ways to minister to others through her callings in the church, phone calls to check on people, constant and long prayer lists for the needs of family and friends, and an intense family history work with its corresponding temple work. Her husband, Jaime, took care of her every step of the way. He could always count on help for her from family and friends, and we will be eternally grateful for each person that served her.

Together, Jaime and Clara were an incredible example of love and commitment to each other. Ruth’s promise to her mother-in-law in Ruth 1:16–17, was the motto of their loving relationship from the beginning. “...for whither thou goest, I will go; and where though lodgest, I will lodge; thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God: Where thou diest, will I die, and there will I be buried: the Lord do so to me, and more also, if ought but death part thee and me.”

Se caso con Jaime Martinez Dovali en Torreón, México el 11 de octubre, 1974 y fueron sellados por tiempo y eternidad en el templo de Salt Lake City el 16 de octubre, 1974. Clara y Jaime tuvieron cuatro hijos: Estrella, Carlos, Jaime y Eduardo Otoniel.

Clara fue precedida en la muerte por sus padres, Pedro y María de Jesús; sus hermanos: Alfredo, Ramiro, Dalinda, María de la Paz, y Pedro; además de 6 nietos que no lograron nacer. Le sobreviven su esposo, Jaime, sus cuatro hijos; Estrella (Martin), Carlos (Zenaida), Jaime (Rebecca), y Eduardo Otoniel (Natalie), sus nietos: Carlos, Moroni, Martin, Emma, Benjamin, Spencer, Logan, Levi, Lance, Evan, Grace, Stephen y Alexander, sus hermanos: María de Jesús (Guillermo), Irma (Alan), Margarita, María del Refugio (Jaime), Cuauhtémoc (Quica), Cuitláhuac (Mónica), Nefi (Lucy), and Xóchitl (Víctor), Cuñados: Guillermo y María y muchos sobrinos, sobrinas, y sus descendientes.

El enfoque principal de Clara siempre fue el evangelio de Jesucristo y ella emulaba Su amor. Por esa razón, al comenzar su relación con Jaime, inmediatamente le compartió el evangelio. Ella compartía lo que más la hacía feliz con todos. Le encantaba trabajar en una escuela prescolar hasta que una embolia limito su movilidad. A pesar de depender de una silla de ruedas los últimos 19 años de su vida, buscaba maneras de ministrar a otros por medio de sus llamamientos en la iglesia, llamadas para saber cómo estaban diversas personas, una larga lista de familia y amigos por las que oraba todos los días según sus necesidades, e hizo una labor inmensa en la historia familiar y la obra del templo correspondiente. Su esposo, Jaime, la cuido en todo momento. Él siempre podía contar con familia y amigos que le ayudaron y estaremos eternamente agradecidos por cada persona que le sirvió. Juntos, Jaime y Clara fueron un increíble ejemplo de amor, compromiso y resiliencia del uno al otro. La promesa que le hizo Ruth a su suegra en Ruth 1:16-17, fue el lema de su relación amorosa desde el principio. “...porque adondequiera que tu fueres, iré yo, y dondequiera que vivieres, viviré. Tu pueblo será mi pueblo, y tu Dios mi Dios. Donde tu murieres, moriré yo y allí seré sepultada. Así me hará Jehová y aun me añada, porque solo la muerte hará separación entre tú y yo.”

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at 11 a.m. at the Adobie Mill Ward Chapel, 373 15th Street, Ogden. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Ogden City Cemetery.
