Cindee Pierce Stanley was born on December 1, 1954, in Ogden, Utah, to her loving parents, Garth and Beverly Pierce. She passed away peacefully on December 7, 2025, surrounded by family. We take comfort in knowing she returned home to her Heavenly Father and was welcomed by loved ones who went before her.
Cindee grew up in Ogden and attended Bonneville High School, where she enjoyed her time as a Lakette and discovered her lifelong love of competitive sports. During these early years, she met Joe Pistoia. They later married and were blessed with three children. Though their marriage eventually ended, they shared many meaningful years raising and supporting their family together.
Cindee was a devoted and loving mother. Her enthusiasm for sports became a gift she passed on to her children, and together with Joe, she loved coaching and cheering them on in every activity. Her personal passion for running led her to complete the St. George Marathon several times, and she had set her sights on qualifying for the Boston Marathon before her accident in 1998.
On August 8, 1996, Cindee welcomed her first grandchild, beginning a chapter of life that brought her immeasurable joy. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were truly the light of her life. She loved them with a tenderness that will remain in their hearts forever.
On July 3, 1998, Cindee’s life was profoundly changed when a tragic car accident left her blind and caused a traumatic brain injury and nerve damage to her left arm. Through every challenge that followed, her deep devotion to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints strengthened and sustained her. Her faith was central to her healing and her ability to find peace and happiness again.
Cindee later attended the School for the Deaf and Blind, where she worked tirelessly to regain independence and adapt to her new circumstances. After completing her rehabilitation, she reconnected with a longtime friend, Norm Stanley. Their friendship deepened, and they were married on February 14, 2005. Norm became her dedicated companion and caregiver, offering unwavering support, love, and joy throughout their years together.
With the encouragement and support she received, Cindee was able to return to many of the activities she loved. She treasured her sight-seeing dog, Becker, and embraced an active lifestyle once more—running races, snowshoeing, biking, and swimming. One of her proudest accomplishments was completing her first triathlon after losing her vision.
Throughout her life, Cindee demonstrated remarkable courage, resilience, and grace. No matter the challenges she faced, she met each day with a smile and a heart full of gratitude. She was an inspiration to all who knew her.
Cindee is survived by her children: Sadee (Josh), Jodee, and TJ (Shari); Her grandchildren: McCayla (AJ), McCinly (Ben), Braxton, Bronson (Kazharaye), Brock (Melissa), Dari (Tyler), and Hunter; Her great-grandchildren: Charlotte, Mack, Ryree, Richland, Remington, Bronx, Betty, and Joanne; Her siblings: Kathy (Brian), Lyn (Jeff), Greg (Natalie) and Tami (Erik).
She was preceded in death by her parents, Garth and Beverly Pierce, and her brother, Terry Pierce.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to her sister Lyn and Jeff for their years of loving care and dedication to Cindee following her accident. Their unwavering support brought comfort and stability to her life.
We also express our sincere gratitude to Bristol Hospice for their tender, compassionate care during her final days. A special thank you to Rachel and Jocelyn.
