Chloe Gayle Bennett

May 9, 2007 — March 5, 2023

Clinton

Chloe Gayle Bennett, 15, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2023, at her home in Clinton, Utah.

Chloe was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on May 9, 2007, to Michael Obadiah (Oby) and TaraLee Bennett. She was diagnosed with West Syndrome and cerebral palsy at a young age. However, no diagnosis could limit her voracious love of life, people, music, or Barney.

Chloe loved spending time with her little brother, Sam, and her parents, as well as her pet dogs, cats, and birds. She loved her grandparents, cousins, neighbors, and many friends. Before her health worsened, she enjoyed family gatherings and vacations, and was always up for a visit or an adventure. When her health started to keep her home more often, she enjoyed the simple things just as much!

Her contagious dimpled smile and big blue eyes brightened the lives of anyone lucky enough to know and love her. It’s no wonder an accessible park in Syracuse, Utah was named in her honor, “Chloe’s Sunshine Playground.”

Chloe attended schools in Davis and Weber counties, as well as the Utah School for the Deaf and Blind in both Ogden and Salt Lake City. She was blessed with wonderful educators, support staff, therapists, and others who went above and beyond to support her needs in every way possible. She had many friends at each school who were very special and important to her.

She spent a great deal of time at Primary Children’s Hospital, both inpatient and outpatient, and also received respite, home health, and hospice services. She was given outstanding care, guidance, and healing in each setting, which undoubtedly prolonged and improved her fragile life.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her testimony of Jesus Christ’s gospel was sacred and apparent. Even in the most dire, painful moments, she could be found looking up and smiling, inviting everyone around her to do the same.

It was a profound privilege to love and serve Chloe. It was an even greater privilege to be loved and served so uniquely by her. She will be sorely missed, until we meet again.

Chloe is survived by her parents, Oby and Tara and her brother, Sam (Clinton); her Papa and Nana, Mike and Tami Bennett (St. George); her Grammy, Bonnie Mann (Clinton); a great-grandma, Judy Taylor (Bountiful); a great-grandpa, Merle Bennett (Salt Lake City); and many loved aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family. She was preceded in death by her Papa, Braden Mann, and a cousin, Anthony (Tonio) Bennett.
