Listen to Obituary

Cheryl Lynn Woolsey, born December 28, 1959, at Washington Hospital in Fremont, California, to Violet Cooper and Lewis Johnson. She passed away on December 29, 2025 surrounded by the love of her family.

Cheryl spent her early years in San Jose, where she attended Ross Elementary School and Dartmouth Junior High before graduating from Branham High School in 1978.

On February 14, 1983, she married the love of her life, Nathanael Woolsey, in Reno, Nevada. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and service. They lived in Fremont until 1995, then settled in Tracy, California, where they raised their family. Later in life in 2014, Cheryl and Nathanael cherished their time living in Eden, Utah, while maintaining their home in Tracy until her passing.

Cheryl began her working years at Santa Clara Circuits from 1978 to 1986, but her greatest and most enduring contributions were found in the countless hours she joyfully dedicated to her community and to supporting her children’s lives. She volunteered with sports teams, school clubs, and activities, always offering her time and talents wherever they were needed. She founded the Homework Club at Lammerville Elementary School, creating a warm and supportive space for students who needed after-school help.

A devoted 4-H leader, Cheryl guided many clubs—especially her well-loved cooking club. She shared her creativity by helping with the indoor garden exhibits at the San Joaquin Fair. Her faith was central to her life, and she served warmly and faithfully as an Awana leader with Southwinds Church in Tracy. While living in Eden, she worshipped with Fellowship Bible Church, building cherished friendships along the way.

Creative, generous, and endlessly nurturing, Cheryl poured love into everything she did. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, crocheting, cooking, baking, traveling, and—above all else—spending time with her family. Her patience, warmth, and steady encouragement touched every life she encountered.

Cheryl is survived by her husband, Nathanael Woolsey; her children, Nathanael Woolsey Jr. of Spain, Rhea Woolsey of Rocklin, California, and Sierra Dituri of Manteca, California; and her seven treasured grandchildren, William and Emma Lees (children of Rhea), Lorelei and Guilliana Dituri (children of Sierra), and Fabian, Amias, and Cherie Woolsey (children of Nathanael Jr.). She is also survived by her sibling, Denise Sauceda.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and VioletJohnson; her brothers, Ricky Lee Johnson and Brian Johnson; and her grandparents.

Cheryl’s life was defined by compassion, creativity, and an unwavering devotion to her family and community. She was truly the heart of her family, holding them together with her warm spirit and humble nature. She approached life with a cheerful demeanor and the best attitude one could hope for. No challenge—including cancer—was ever strong enough to diminish her positivity or her vibrant spirit. She faced each day with a smile, an open heart, and a generosity that uplifted everyone around her.

Cheryl will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know and love her.
