Charlene Liljenquist Kinney

October 31, 1933 — June 24, 2022

Our dear sweet mother, Charlene Liljenquist Kinney passed away June 24, 2022 at the age of 88. She was born October 31, 1933 to wonderful parents, Charles Nathanial and Maud Elizabeth Williams Liljenquist. She grew up in Hyrum, Utah the youngest of one brother, Gorman, and three sisters, Coy, Carol, Iris.

Charlene graduated from South Cache High and Utah State University where she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. She met and married George Whitlock “Whit” Swan and together they had three children: Sherri, Matt, and Mary Jo. Later mom and Keith Siggard began dating and have been together since. Keith is wonderful and loved Char with all his heart. He provided her with a beautiful home, travel, and companionship as they shared many happy years together.

Loving is probably the word that best describes Mom. Her family was everything to her. All she did was for them and to be with them. She liked celebrating anything and everything with her family. It was her heaven. She especially loved our time at beautiful Bear Lake. She made   everyone’s birthday special and hosted wonderful family Christmas parties. Mom would travel anywhere to support every child, grandchild and great grandchild. She was always a big part of our lives, very involved. She knew and loved our friends. Char really enjoyed going to lunch with her loved ones and friends. She remained close with Catherine, Oneida, Shirley, Peggy, and Connie. Our San Francisco trips with Carol, Judie and the girls were so fun, bringing her much happiness.

Mom chose teaching as her career to have the same schedule as her children. She was a phenomenal teacher, teaching at Box Elder Jr High for 27 years. She genuinely cared about her students, always willing to listen and help. She was everyone’s favorite.

After retiring from school teaching Char spent ten years working for Southwest Airlines. She received awards for her outstanding service and developed many great friendships. She was able to travel extensively to be with loved ones.

Mom was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved Jesus Christ with all her heart. Taking the sacrament, praying, reading her scriptures, and going to the temple were especially important to her.

Much Love and gratitude to all who cared for our sweet Mom: Keith for his daily loving tender care, Dr Biddulph, his MAs Shelice, Melanie, Whitney for her genuine, above and beyond love and care, Andrea for always listening with sweet caring and guidance, Deanna for filling in at a moment’s notice, as well as Megan, Cassidy, Andrew, Roy, and Dr DeGrauw. We are eternally grateful!

Mom is preceded in death by her parents, all her siblings, Chelsea (granddaughter), Charlie (great grandson), Casey (stepgrandson). She is survived by her loving companion, Keith, daughter Sherri McMillan (Scott), son Mathew Swan (Jodeen), daughter Mary Robbins, eleven grandchildren Natalie (Mark), Jake, Ike (Marz), Abby (Josh), James (Lindsey), Steven (Heather), Marissa, Brooke (Ryan), Luke (Lexi), Daniel (Katherine), TJ (Madison), eighteen great grandchildren, Chloe, Bella, Mason, Max, Leo, Kallie, Kate, Kara, Bailey, Matthew, Carly, Nathan, Alaina, Rylie, Zoey, Brielle, Ryker, Jack, Tate, newborn baby girl Dobson, Reyna, Gianna, and 1 on the way, many dear nieces and nephews, and sweet step children and grandchildren, and our beloved Michelle Summers.
