Charlene Bailey Hardcastle

September 9, 1935 — January 29, 2024

Ogden

Charlene Bailey Hardcastle, passed away Monday, January 29, 2024, at her home in Taylor, Utah of pancreatic cancer.

She was born September 9, 1935, in Murray, Utah, the daughter of Kenneth Charles and Rachel Freeman Bailey.

On April 22, 1955, Charlene married Donald Lee Hardcastle in the Salt Lake City Temple. They lived their entire married life in the Ogden area.

After raising their five children, Charlene returned to Weber State University and received a degree in elementary education and enjoyed teaching  in Weber County.

She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and she served others diligently and joyfully through specific assignments and through her own well-developed desire to reach out and help. She was especially fond of family history research and serving in the temple. Charlene and Don served as ordinance workers in the Ogden Temple. They subsequently served as full-time missionaries in the London England Temple. This was an experience that brought their love of service and of each other to a whole new level.

Charlene was an accomplished musician. She enjoyed performing as a violinist and as a member of a musical trio.

She was kind and generous. She loved working behind the scenes and performing considerate and anonymous acts to lift others. She had a gift for making every day brighter. Her greatest joy was being with her family and she delighted in doing things that made her loved ones happy.

Charlene is survived by her children, Kim B. (LeeAnn) Hardcastle, Roy; Greg (Sally) Hardcastle, West Weber; Jennifer (Ramon) Arevalo, West Haven; and Ryan (Brooke) Hardcastle, Farr West; 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Reneé Boyter, two brothers, Glade Bailey and Mark (Vicki) Bailey.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Don, daughter, Katie, and one brother, DeWayne (Nancy).

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 5, 2024 at the Ogden Utah West Stake Center, 2200 South 4300 West, Ogden.
