Beloved mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and defender of the innocent and helpless, Chari Lee Edgar Horton unexpectedly passed away the morning of May 10, 2024, of unknown causes in Clearfield.
Chari was born Sept. 15, 1950, in Salt Lake City, the oldest daughter of Eldon and Corallene Ronneburg Edgar. She was preceded in death by both parents, one brother Arnold J. Edgar and one son Jess David Horton. She is survived by her stepmother Renee Chilton Edgar, brother Robb Edgar, sisters Angela (Jon) Simms, Kristen (Nick) Radulovich, son Robert “Bill” (Paula) Gibbs, son Jacob (Liz) Horton, grandsons Ethan Gibbs and Corbin Horton, granddaugher Audrey Gibbs and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Chari grew up in California and Utah, later moving to Alamosa, Colorado. She attended Adams State College where she received her master's degree in special education while working multiple jobs to support her family and education. She moved back to Bountiful, Utah after graduating and began her teaching career at Monte Vista School in Farmington. After many years of teaching, she semi-retired and moved to Camp Verde, Arizonia then back to Utah where she lived in Kaysville for many years. During her time there, she worked at the Utah School for the Blind in Ogden and a few other elementary schools in Davis County. She was also a veteran having served in the Utah Army National Guard 144th Evacuation Unit.
While we are sad to see her go, we are comforted knowing she has joined her parents, brother and son and is finally free of the pain and suffering of this world. Her tender heart and fierce determination to defend will leave a large void in our lives.
Graveside services will be held at the Salt Lake City Cemetery, 200 N. “R” Street on May 22nd, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. https://support.bestfriends.org/site/SPageServer/?pagename=memorial_gift&_gl=1*yv8auh*_ga*MTQ1NTM0MDI2Mi4xNzE1NzkyOTQ5*_ga_JDV4SZ13C8*MTcxNTc5Mjk0OS4xLjEuMTcxNTc5Mjk1OS41MC4wLjA.
