Listen to Obituary

Cathlyn Joyce Lykins passed away on Monday, November 10, 2025, surrounded by her loving family and best friends. She was born to Gordon and Fern Cutler on October 24, 1944, in South Ogden, Utah, and was raised on Country Club Drive. She attended Club Heights Elementary, where her mother was her teacher, before attending South Ogden Jr. High and Bonneville High School. She later attended Weber State College. She was a member of the 49th LDS Ward and participated in many church callings along with being a Girl Scout in her youth.

Cathy, as she preferred to be called, had many jobs. She worked at IRS, Commercial Security Bank, Hill Air Force Base, and for many other Government Contractors at Hill.

She loved volunteering at the 2002 Winter Olympics, McKay Dee Hospital, and at various Golf Tournaments. She had the time of her life giving to others and making friends while doing it.

Cathy married Jim Lykins in 1971 in Evanston, WY. They lived a full life in their beautiful home in Roy where they lived for over 30 years. Their yard and garden was there shining glory. They grew the best vegetables; Cathy canned and they enjoy it all year long. They lived fully traveling to many places and countries. Unfortunately, their love story was cut short when Jim passed in 2001.

In 2003, she met Greg German. It was a whirlwind romance, and they knew right off the bat that they were meant for each other. They shared a life of family, side-by-side rides, Rodeo’s, car shows, parades, camping, long drives, and eating fast food. They loved to golf and traveled to many different courses. It was always a party when Greg fired up the smoker, and the horseshoes came out. Again, tragedy struck, Greg passed in 2023 after an acute illness.

In 2022, she received a diagnosis of Lewy Body Dementia. A battle she fought with unmatched courage and grace. After Greg passed, she transitioned to Sunridge Assisted Living in Roy, later in June of 2025 to Sunflower Memory Care, in Plain City, where she continued to brighten the lives of those around her. She truly loved everyone she came in contact with while living at both facilities.

Cathy will be deeply missed by her beloved daughter, Angela (Darrell) Creel; her five cherished grandchildren, Chelsey (Blake) Johnson, Danielle (Brett) Deis, and Caylee (Tyler) Atkinson; and her great-grandchildren, Liam, Harper, and Cage. She also leaves behind her loving niece, Jennifer Cutler; brother, Gordon (Robyn) Cutler; and two nephews.

She was preceded in death, by her husband, Jim; her husband, Greg; her parents; and her nephew, Eli.

Cathy’s spirit lives on in the memories she created and the love she shared with all those who were fortunate enough to know her. She lived a life full of purpose, laughter, and love. May her laughter be echoed in our hearts forever as we remember who she was.

We would like to thank many of the CNA’s at Sunflower Memory Care for showing love and support for Cathy, while taking care of her and making sure she was living her life to the fullest. We would also like to thank Jean Bell and Merida Bailey for being there for her and also loving her no matter the day. They were truly her best friends in this life.
