Carolyn Kenley Schreck
Our beloved mother, Carolyn Kenley Schreck passed away suddenly on Thursday, March 15, 2012. She has left behind so many who loved her especially her three children, Christine (Ken) Hansen of Cedar Hills; Sherri (Sam) Hymas of Lindon; and Rob (Lisa) Schreck of Omaha, NE. She also leaves 12 heartbroken grandchildren who were the prides and joys of her heart, Carlie, Kassie, Matthew, Justin, Robbie, Emma, Lauren, Samantha, Stephen, Ana, Alexander and Joseph. Nothing gave her greater pleasure than spending time with them and attending their many activities. She is also survived by her parents, Glen and Yvonne Kenley of Washington Terrace.
Carolyn was born January 26, 1946 along with her twin sister Marilyn (Merrill, who preceded her in death). Their many adventures along with their four younger sisters have continued through the years. Culminating with the blessing of spontaneous and fun trip to St. George just two weeks ago. She loved her sisters and took special pride in being one of six girls! She will be dearly missed by Linda (Russ) Berrett, Elaine (Frank) Nielson, Julie (Steve) Baird and Joyce Kenley. It is a comfort to all of us to know that "the twins" are together again.
A devoted aunt, she always took special interest in her nieces and nephews, celebrating their successes in career and family. She delighted along with her sisters as new grandbabies came to join them. Because she took such joy in her own grandchildren she was always excited and thrilled when friends and family were also blessed.
Carolyn graduated from Bonneville High School in 1964 and still loved to remember fun days as a student officer and "Lakette." She kept in touch with many high school friends and still enjoyed regular lunch outings with them. She was married to Robert Schreck in 1965, (later divorced) and moved to Minnesota where she spent many happy years raising her family, developing lasting friendships and keeping busy with church assignments. Always an active member of the LDS Church, she served in many capacities with a special love for Relief Society. She returned to Utah and has lived in Orem, Lindon and most recently Layton. One of her proudest achievements was when (as a grandmother!) she began her college education and completed her Associate''s Degree at Utah Valley University.
Carolyn loved to cook and plan menus. Anyone who did her a favor or helped her out in anyway was blessed with an invitation to dinner. She loved to set a beautiful table. She was a talented seamstress, floral arranger and furniture restorer. Everyone who met Carolyn was impressed with her beauty and natural sense of style. We often said she had three wards to belong to because of the many welcomed visits she made to her daughter''s wards. Her smile and friendliness will be missed by so many.
We would like to thank the many people who have helped us during this difficult time, including emergency personnel and especially her neighbors and ward members. We love you MOM. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Layton 17th Ward, 1290 No. Church Street, Layton. Friends may visit family on Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment, Orem City Cemetery.
Services entrusted to Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
