Carol Edwards McLean

Carol Edwards McLean, 89, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Saturday, January 14, 2012.

She was born October 12, 1922 in Taber, Alberta, Canada to George Lawrence "Judd" and Dora Catherine Christensen Edwards. In her youth, Carol was captain of the Taber High basketball team and the Queen of the Gold and Green Ball.

Carol proudly served in the Canadian Women''s Army Corps during World War II before immigrating to the United States with her husband, Herbert I. McLean whom she married on August 5, 1947 in Taber. They were residents of Tacoma, Washington for 62 years where she enjoyed many enduring friendships. She served in many civic responsibilities there and retired from Sears.

She was always faithful in the LDS Church and enjoyed her many callings.

Carol''s legacy is her love for her family and enduring influence in the lives of her children, to whom she gave each an inherent capacity to achieve and the fire to pursue it. At her knee, they learned the kindness and decency that carries them through their lives.

Carol is survived by five children, Rodney (Sofia) McLean, San Francisco, CA; Paul (Nanette) McLean, Indianapolis, IN; Lorna (Rick) Lessey, West Point, UT; Bruce (Barbara), Midland, TX; Matthew (Dana), Manassas, VA; 22 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, son, Kimley, her parents and all of her siblings.

Her family wishes to thank the many family and long time friends who loved her and express our appreciation to the staff at Family Tree Assisted Living in West Point and Hospice for Utah for their compassionate care. Services will be held Friday, January 20th at 2:30 p.m. at Lindquist''s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South.

The family will meet with friends on Friday from 1:15 to 2:15 p.m. at the mortuary.
