Carol Jean Menlove Johnson
Carol Jean Menlove Johnson died October 25, 2018 in Farmington, Utah, of natural causes. She was born in Moreland, Idaho, December 7, 1930, to Roy Alfred Menlove and Lucille Olsen Menlove.
She married Arnold Willmore “Bill” Johnson, a former fighter pilot, on March 26, 1954 in Salt Lake City. As newlyweds, Carol taught domestic art and home economics at Jordan Jr. High School while Bill sold cars.
Carol’s father, Roy Menlove, helped the couple secure a Dodge franchise in 1962 and a Toyota franchise in 1965, and Carol the businesswoman and Bill the salesman built the family business that carried her name into one of Utah’s most successful auto dealerships – Menlove Dodge Toyota – “the last of the little guys” in Bountiful.
A graduate of East High School in 1948, Carol earned awards for creative arts before attending the University of Utah for two years where she won a national dress design contest sponsored by the National Woolgrowers of America and earned a scholarship to the prestigious Trophangen School of Design in New York City. There, she excelled in clothing design and construction and also earned her degree.
Education was always important to Carol and she made sure her children and grandchildren had high quality educational experiences throughout their lives. She also loved playing golf, a passion she passed on to her children and grandchildren.
The Johnsons were longtime residents of Bountiful, Utah. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1997 and her beloved son Walter in 1998. She is survived by her daughter, Corinne Maloney, Bountiful; sons Wesley, North Salt Lake and Matthew (Brooke), Centerville; sister, Belva Mitchell, Salt Lake City; brother, Howard Menlove, Los Alamos, New Mexico; 12 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Friday, November 2nd viewing services will be held at Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary located at 727 N. 400 E., Bountiful, Utah 6:00-8:00pm
Saturday, November 3rd viewing services will be held at Bountiful Community Church located at 150 N. 400 E., Bountiful, Utah 9:30-10:30am. Funeral service will follow at Bountiful Community Church 11:00 am.
Interment will be at Bountiful City Cemetery following the services located at 2224 S. 200 W., Bountiful, Utah
In lieu of flowers, the Johnson family asks that donations be made to the Crimson Club on behalf of the Walter Johnson Scholarship Fund addressed as follows: U of U Crimson Club, 1825 East South Campus Drive, Salt Lake City, UT 84112.
