Carol Cologna, age 83, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2022. She was born on June 7, 1939 in Ogden, Utah to William and Thelma Nicolaides. She married James Joseph Cologna in January 1961. After a 53-year loving life journey, James preceded her in death in 2014.
Carol was a loving sister to Mary-Ann Lane, Greg and Kim Player, Gary and Bobby Nicholaides; a devoted mother to her daughters and their spouses, Therese Fowler and husband Jeffrey Fowler, Susan Cologna and husband Jim Kalb; a doting grandmother to Gabrielle, Alexander, Alexa, Audrey, Mossimo, Marcello, and Olivia; and an adoring great-grandmother to Penelope, Clementine, Rivers, Poppy, and Emerson.
Carol loved crafts and her hands were rarely still. Making porcelain dolls was a favorite hobby and she would spend hours pouring the casts, firing the pieces, painting the faces complete with beautifully realistic eyes, and crocheting or sewing clothing to dress them just so. She loved desserts and was known for making Grandma’s homemade fudge. She made delightfully elaborate scrapbooks commemorating the family vacations to Wyoming, San Diego, Hawaii, Italy, and Mexico.
Above all, Carol could always be counted on for a bright smile and a kind, uplifting word. She cared greatly about others above herself and had a truly warm and kind presence.
