Carol Child Bushnell Beus

April 13, 1940 — February 27, 2024

Carol Beus, 83, passed away February 27, 2024, peacefully at her home after bravely battling some health problems. She was born April 13, 1940, to Marvin and Oneta Child. She was the fifth of five daughters. She spent her entire life in the Ogden area where she attended Ben Lomond High School and graduated from Ogden High School.

On January 24, 1959, she married Richard “Dick” Bushnell and they shared their lives together with four children until his passing in 1988.

On June 30, 2001, she married Leo Beus and they enjoyed their adult children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren along with some much enjoyed travel. Disneyland and Hawaii were some of their favorites, until his passing in 2018.

Her family was her joy. Mom was a very caring person. She would make her children and grandchildren some kind of craft for every holiday. Her special little round trips to deliver food, a treat, or some kind of craft to each of her kids are going to be missed.

She liked being outdoors in the mountains, camping and fishing with family. She loved crafts and did several of them very well. Sewing, crocheting, and rock painting to name a few. She shared what she made with family and neighbors. Sorry JoAnn’s and Hobby Lobby you are going to miss her too!

When she was a teenager her first job was a carhop at J&K Drive-in, she loved it and talked a lot about how much fun it was. Some of her other jobs were Commercial Security Bank, Weber State College, Ogden Family Medicine, Dr. Albert Hartman Office, and retiring from Admiral Beverage (Pepsi).

Carol is survived by her children, Lynn Bushnell, Penny (Eric) Jones, Stephanie (Paul) Vlaanderen, and Shawn (Angelique) Bushnell; Leo’s daughters, April (Phil) Ritzinger and Terri Freston; 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; and many cherished nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two husbands; her parents; and her four sisters.

Her family would like to thank Tonya and her son Bryatt, she appreciated you so much. Also, her other great neighbors who were very thoughtful and caring. The family would also like to thank the many healthcare professionals with IHC Home Health and Palliative Care as well as her doctors and nurses at Huntsman and the Ogden area.
