Carlene W. Sudweeks

Carlene W. Sudweeks, 85, of Layton, Utah passed away peacefully on November 8, 2022 surrounded by her family.  Born in Salt Lake City, Utah on August 24, 1937 to Carl Glines and Arthella Wiggill, she was the only child. 

Carlene had three children with her first husband William Stewart.  Carlene then met and married the love of her life, Daniel Allen Sudweeks on February 12, 1971.  Their combined family of six children expanded to eight with an adoption and the birth of a son.

Carlene was a homemaker who enjoyed raising her family.  She worked tirelessly in her vegetable garden and cared for the fruit trees in the back yard, canning the rewards of those efforts.  She loved the great outdoors, enjoying camping, deer hunting, hiking, and fishing.   She also enjoyed sewing, quilting, crochet and was a talented artist.  She was extremely kind and generous to all and became “mom” to many of her children’s friends.  She would often check on family and friends and would answer the call of anyone in need. 

Carlene is preceded in death by her parents: Carl Glines and Arthella Wiggill, her loving husband, Daniel Allen Sudweeks, daughter Sharon McQuiddy, and son, James “Jimmy” Darrell Sudweeks.  She is survived by her children: David (Debbie) Sudweeks, Layton, Utah, Hellen Snow, Clearfield, Utah, Carl Stewart, Layton, Utah, Mark Stewart, Layton, Utah, Evelyn Tordoff, Hampstead, NC, Vaughn Sudweeks, Roy, Utah, and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held Friday, November 11, 2022 at 2:00 p.m.  at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd, Layton, Utah.  Friends may visit with family from Noon to 1:30 p.m. at the mortuary prior to the service.  Interment will be at Lindquist’s Memorial Park at Layton.
