Carl Louis Stegen

October 3, 1934 ~ February 3, 2016

Our beloved and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully of natural causes on February 3, 2016.  Carl was born on October 3, 1934 in Ogden, Utah to Samuel Victor and Margaret Lucile Stegen.   He graduated from Ogden High School.  Carl served two years in the US Army.

He married his sweetheart Elisabeth Woltjer on May 31, 1958.

Carl worked for Hill Air Force Base for 35 years as a tool maker where he received many awards and recognitions.  After retiring from Hill he went to work for Dallas Greene Farm Supply in Hooper.

Carl volunteered for many years as part of the Roy City Beautification Committee and was a certified urban forester.  He was honored as Grand Marshall for Roy Days and the Roy City Community Service Award bears his name.  Carl also volunteered at Hill Aerospace Museum for many years as a host.  Carl loved to travel, he and Liz took several extended trips to foreign locations.  He enjoyed camping with his family members, fishing, Ancient American and US History, woodworking, and gardening.

Carl is survived by his wife, Elisabeth; two sons, Craig Stegen (Carol) and Chris Stegen; daughters, Debbie Stegen Peck, Connie Stegen, four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and twin boys expected in May 2016; aunt, Mildred LaFeber and sister-in-law, Bonnie Stegen. He was preceded in death by parents; brothers, Robert J., Ralph C., and Wallace E.; sister, Margaret Love; and son-in-law, John Peck.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 8, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.  Friends may visit with family on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at the mortuary.  Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Rd.
