Carl Heslop returned home to his beloved Father in Heaven in the early morning of Sunday, March 18, 2012.

He was born Christmas Day, December 25, 1922, in West Weber, Utah. Carl was the ninth of ten children born to loving parents, George A. and Sarah Elizabeth Gibson Heslop.

He grew up loving sports of all types. He played basketball and baseball for Weber High School and later enjoyed coaching. He played on a number of competition baseball teams as a left-handed pitcher, and led those teams to victory.

Carl proudly served his country during World War II as a member of the 446th bomb group, 704th bomb squad. He loaded the plane that lead the 8th Air attack over Germany on D-Day. After the war ended Carl returned home and married his sweetheart and eternal companion, Reta Jane Dawson on July 27, 1945. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

Carl and Jane were blessed with three children, Bud, Lloyd and Jann, who were the loves of his life. Many cherished memories originated and were shared by his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served faithfully in many callings. No one ever left Carl''s presence without feeling his love and testimony of his Heavenly Father.

Carl retired from the Navy Supply Depot after which he drove a school bus for the special needs children for 16 years with his sweetheart, Jane as his aide. Carl will be remembered for his humor, quick wit and fantastic tomatoes that where grown in his garden, which he shared with everyone he encountered.

Carl is survived by his wife, Jane, children, Bud, Lloyd and Jann (Dan) Moss, 13 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his two beautiful grandchildren, Nicole "Nicky" Heslop and Adam Nicholas Moss, his parents and nine brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 23rd at 11 a.m. at the West Point Stake Center Chapel, 2300 West 550 North. The family will meet with friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South and Friday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment, Syracuse City Cemetery, where Military Honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.
