Carl embarked on a career beginning at Eastman Kodak, where he contributed significantly in research development. He later enjoyed a prosperous tenure at Chevron, serving as a project manager for 25 years. His professional journey was complemented by a solid educational foundation, having graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in Electrical Engineering, later earning an MBA also from the University of Utah.
His life was marked by significant experiences, including military service during the Cuban Missile Crisis, reflecting both his commitment to duty and the values instilled in him as a young man.
Family was central to Carl's life, and he took immense pride in his children and their accomplishments. Carl strongly believed in the power of education, pushing for its value among his children and posterity. His commitment to educating the next generation stands as a testament to his character and priorities.
Carl created many cherished memories with his family during vacations to Lake Powell and his beloved trips to Hawaii. His inquisitive nature drove him to take apart objects around the home to understand their workings, while his skills as a marksman led to a genuine love for hunting. Even his adventurous spirit was tempered with thorough planning; he approached family trips, such as visits to Disneyland, with meticulous foresight.
Carl is survived by his wife, Edith; and his loving family— his children, Doug and DeAnn Gibbons, Kent and Heidi Gibbons, Glen Gibbons, David and Christy Gibbons, Deborah and John Walker; along with 25 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Linda Thorne. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Ada Gibbons; and his sister, Betty Havens.
Carl B Gibbons will be remembered not only for his professional achievements but also for his dedication to his family and the values he instilled in them. His legacy of education, planning, and strong family bonds will undoubtedly endure for generations to come.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist's Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
