Byron Sidney Jones

Byron Sidney Jones passed away at his home on April 9, 2023.  He was 92 years old.

He was born to Stanley Jones and Esther Janet (Jenny) Maycock Jones in Salt Lake City, Utah.  He was the 3^rd of 5 siblings.

He served in the military during the Korean War.  He was stationed in Shreveport, LA when he met the love of his life, Barbara.  They flew to Salt Lake City to be married in the Salt Lake Temple.  He was on the ship going to Korea when the Armistice was signed.  Barbara cried when she found out since that meant he would be safe.

Byron was a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a faithful and devoted home teacher.  He had many different callings including serving as a Branch President in Oklahoma and as a counselor in the Bishopric here in Bountiful.  He served as a Stake and Ward clerk from Chicago to Bountiful, and many spots in between.  His hobby, especially after he retired, was doing, and teaching others, family history research.

He graduated from the University of Utah in accounting.  He was certified as a CPA in Illinois and again in Utah.  He worked as a financial controller and accountant in several small manufacturing firms across the country.  Over the years he lived and worked in Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma and finally Utah.

He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and other family members.  He would take his grandchildren swimming on summer holidays.

Byron is survived by his wife, Barbara, brother Ralph Jones and sister Janet Little; his children Dennis Jones and Julie Ord (Craig); eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and an additional great-grandchild on the way.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, April 14, 2023 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel at 2651 South 500 West Bountiful, Utah.  Visitation for friends and family will be held Thursday, April 13^th from 6-8 pm at Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N. 400 E. and Friday from 9:30- 10:30 at the church prior to services.  Interment Bountiful City Cemetery.
