Breannda “Bre” Lee Malnar passed away early April 6, 2026, at Intermountain Medical Center from Pulmonary Hypertension complications.
Bre was born March 4, 1981, to Keith Lawrence Malnar and Brenda Jo Moran Malnar in St. George, Utah and was lovingly welcomed by her sister, Jenifer. Bre lived her life by her own rules, starting with arriving in this world one month early (very healthy) and never looking back. Bre didn’t sleep a full night until she was in kindergarten and was always a night owl. Bre lived with her parents and sister in St. George until early teenage years when Bre’s dad, who worked for SkyWest, was transferred to Salt Lake so they relocated to Kaysville.
While living in St. George, Bre loved to go to the Jacob Hamblin home (a block away), playing on the sand dunes of Snow Canyon, hiking in Zion Canyon and finding adventures with her mom and sister. Many weeks were spent at Lake Powell with Bre, Jen, mom, dad and sometimes extended family on the SkyWest houseboat. During the summer, Bre and Jen would stay a week with their Grandpa John and Grandma Terri Moran, in Kaysville. Both girls looked forward to those visits with their grandparents, and without their parents. She was very saddened to have to move to Kaysville, even though that is where all the extended family were.
Bre never married, however she had a relationship with Jason Brown, and they were the parents of two beautiful children. Bre made the very difficult decision to place both children for adoption through LDS Family Services into the loving home of Liz and Eric. As soon as we met Liz and Eric, we knew both children were going to flourish and be loved unconditionally. Bre named her son Alex, who was adopted under the name Todd and a year later her daughter was born and named Andrea, who then was adopted as Heather. Bre never forgot her children and hoped one day to be able to get acquainted with them.
Bre had a loving heart and was kind and empathetic. She worked as a CNA while she was a teenager, with her mom Brenda, and was loving and kind to her residents. When her sister, Jen had her daughter Gabby, Bre stayed with Jen and took care of Gabby while Jen worked. Bre adored Gabby and gave her excellent care for the first year of Gabby’s life.
Bre was exceptionally intelligent and attended a gifted and talented program in St. George. Any time we met Bre’s variety of friends, one of the first things they would say is how kind and smart Bre was.
From a young age, Bre struggled with mental illness and addiction. As a result, she came in and out of her family’s lives in her own time frame, and no one else’s. Bre experienced both domestic violence and homelessness because of her mental illness/addiction and lifestyle and truly tried to be an advocate to help and speak out for those experiencing these challenges when she was able.
Bre’s family tried to help her many times, when she was willing, and we all have fond memories of these times. Bre’s mom, Brenda and stepdad, Butch, had a large Mastiff named Norton, who Bre loved. Butch would take Bre on errands with Norton in the Jeep and there were times Butch could barely see Bre tucked in with groceries and Norton licking everything. Bre was in heaven during those times. She loved animals so much and had many pets throughout her life.
Bre leaves behind her mom, Brenda (Butch) Madaj, sister, Jenifer Malnar; her niece, Gabby; her Grandma Terri Moran; and aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her dad, Keith and her younger sister, Rebekah.
The family would like to recognize, and thank with our whole heart, Bre’s best friend Misty Butcher who has been friends with Bre for the last six years. Misty has been invaluable during this time.
There will be no services, and the family has entrusted cremation to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary. The family would like to thank Marshall Gardner and Laurie Abraham at Lindquist’s for their kindness and excellent, compassionate care during this time.
