Brandon Petersen, 41, of Syracuse, passed away unexpectedly early Sunday morning, February 9, 2026, at Holy Cross Davis Hospital in Layton, where he was surrounded by his loving family.
Born April 22, 1984, in Ogden, Utah, Brandon was the eldest of two children of Tamera Balliett.
Raised in West Haven and schooled in Roy, he graduated from Roy High School in 2002.
After high school, he laid tile with his cousin, did yard care, and worked at Lifetime Products. He later hired on with the IRS and went on to have a successful career as a Tax Examiner in Ogden, with over 20 years of service. He made many good friends at work and loved helping his team. Brandon also enjoyed playing his own made-up character role of “McEvil” for several years at Castle of Chaos in Riverdale. He was great at voice impersonations and talking in different voices, which came in handy while acting at the haunted house.
Brandon met Jordan Lindsey Benoit Kammeyer. He had gone to school and was friends with her first husband, Thomas Kammeyer, who passed away in 2011. Brandon and Jordan met online and have been inseparable ever since. They got married in August of 2014 in West Point, Utah. Brandon was an incredible husband to Jordan and was always making sure she felt loved and cared for. Brandon enjoyed spending time with his wife, and they did everything together. Taking her to lunch on his Fridays off, watching documentaries together, going shopping, exploring new food places, and spoiling their fur babies. Brandon and Jordan recently attended a Denver Broncos game and had such a fun time together.
Brandon was a faithful Utah Jazz and Denver Broncos fan, even at a young age, and loved to share his excitement about the games with his family.
Brandon enjoyed taking nature photos and had a real good eye. He was very handy and could fix anything, and if he didn’t know how, he would tinker around with it and figure it out. He always had a way of thinking outside the box and had a solution to everything.
Brandon was friendly, positive, outgoing, and always smiling. He had a special way of making strangers feel like long-lost friends and was eager to help anyone in need. Some of his nicknames included Random B, Big B, and Funcle Brandon.
Brandon’s life slogan was “Life is good” and he embodied that daily.
Brandon will be remembered most for his joy for life, selfless service, and ability to make everyone laugh. He was a prankster, and he couldn’t ever hold still.
Brandon is survived by his wife, Jordan; mother, Tamera (Mark) Balliett; sister, Cassidy (Kade) Christensen; nieces, Sloane and Blaire Christensen; in-laws, Randy (Jill) Benoit; and by his beloved fur babies, Panda, Ray, Girl, and Gemma.
Brandon was preceded in death by his grandmother, NioLee Petersen; by his aunts, Jerri (Don) Ryan, and Cheryl Petersen; by his uncle, Tom Dodenhoeft; and by his cousins, Shawn Ryan, Michele Ryan and Stacey Baker.
The family gives special thanks to the staff of Holy Cross Davis Hospital for their kind and expert care.
