Boyd Eugene Andersen
Boyd E. Andersen passed away at home on January 2, 2012 of causes incident to age.
He was born on April 9, 1926 in Hyrum, Utah to Juliet Albretsen and Eugene Delos Andersen. He married Virginia Fuhriman on September 3, 1948 and the marriage was solemnized in the Logan Temple in 1951. In 1994 Boyd entered the US Army and spent his basic training at Fort Hood, Texas, after which he was immediately sent to the Philippines into active combat, and from there to Japan. Boyd earned a number of military commendations including the Bronze Star. He returned home in August of 1946. After graduating from Utah State University in Business Administration he had a successful career in finance with Nationwide Finance and Citicorp and lived in Denver, Phoenix and Salt Lake City.
Boyd loved the outdoors, was an avid fisherman and hunter and loved dogs. In his later years he spent much of the summer tending to his tomatoes. One of his favorite activities was going on cruises with his family. Boyd''s greatest pleasure was spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren that could do no wrong in his eyes.
He was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various leadership positions.
Boyd and Virginia are the parents of five children, David (Deb), Teresa (Dell), Kris (Dan), Jan (Paul) and Dan (Susan) all of whom are still living and is survived by 17 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren with two on the way. He is also survived by his wife, and a brother Doug, and is preceded in death by his brother Melvin and his sister Gwena Willey.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, January 6, 2012 at Lindquist''s Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N. 400 E. where friends may visit from 10:30 a" 11:45 am. prior to services. Interment will be at 3:00 pm at the Hyrum City Cemetery.
