Bonnie Dustin Putnam, 90, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2025, in Farmington, Utah.

Born July 3, 1935, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Monroe Dustin and Eva Emmaline Kunz, Bonnie was the youngest of seven children. She grew up in the Teton Valley near Victor, Idaho, where she learned the value of hard work on the family farm. From milking cows to trudging through snowdrifts or riding a horse to school, Bonnie’s early years were filled with resilience and determination. She played the trombone, was in 4-H, sewed on a treadle sewing machine, and enjoyed pitching softball in her youth. She graduated from Teton High School class of 1953.

Bonnie married Eugene Peter Osborne in the Idaho Falls Temple. Together, they had several children before later divorcing. She raised her children as a single mother before marrying Calvin Dee Putnam, and they welcomed a daughter together. Bonnie’s greatest joy was her six children, born across different chapters of her life. She cherished each of them deeply. She became part of a blended family through Calvin’s children from a previous marriage. Bonnie and Calvin were sealed in the Ogden, Utah Temple.

A talented entrepreneur, she participated in several home-based businesses where she built lasting friendships. She ran a Karmelkorn shop in Roy, Utah, and made pizzas to support her family. She founded Bonnie’s Candy, where she crafted hand-dipped chocolates, peanut brittle, mints, and all-day suckers. She was a confectioner until the age of 88. She loved to garden and shared that joy with children and grandchildren.

Bonnie was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving faithfully in many roles, including Relief Society President. She was also a proud member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. Known for her generosity and creativity, she loved crocheting hot pads for family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, all her siblings, two sons, three grandchildren and Calvin. Bonnie will be remembered for her service, entrepreneurial spirit, faith, and the love she shared with all who knew her.

A Graveside Service will be held Thursday, November 6, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at Lindquist’s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Rd., Layton, Utah. Friends may visit family prior to services from 2:00 to 2:45 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Rd., Layton, Utah.
