Bobby Ray Samms, 69, passed away peacefully on the morning of Thursday, August 21, 2025 and concluded his eight-year fight with metastatic clear cell kidney cancer surrounded by his loving family.
Bobby was born December 12, 1955, along with his twin sister, in Wellington, Kansas. His mother, Amelia Marie Brockman, raised him and his five siblings, with admirable will, love, and determination, to be the loving and successful men and women they have grown to be.
As Bobby grew to be a young adult, he developed his passion and skill for working with machines of any and all kinds. In particular, he enjoyed cars and the work involved with keeping them running so that he could drive himself and his friends around their hometown. He went on to apply his skills in the U.S. Navy, beginning in April 1975, where his service took him to numerous countries in East Asia. After serving aboard the USS Morton, USS Hoel, and USS Fanning, Bobby received his honorable discharge in April 1981.
Bobby is survived by his loving wife, Karen, his son, Trevor; brothers Gary and Sam, and sisters Brenda and Carol. He is preceded in death by his mother, Amelia, and brother, Ron.
Out of respect for his wishes, there will not be a memorial service. Instead, Bobby and his family would ask that anyone wishing to pay their respects do so by reflecting on any cherished memories you may have with him. Please hold on to those memories and share them with anyone eager to listen. Memories preserve our existence, if only for a little while longer.
Arrangements entrusted to Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary.
