Blair H. Sheffield was born to Vaughn Peter and Edith Hacking Sheffield on October 16, 1940. He was born in his family home in Kaysville, UT. The youngest of five brothers.
He had a love of all sports. He picked up any new sport quickly and excelled at it. At Davis High School, Blair lettered in tennis, football, and basketball. He went on to play football and basketball at Weber College (now Weber State University).
Blair married Karen Hancey. Although they later divorced, they had three beautiful children, Gary, Blake, and Paige.
In 1976, Blair married the love of his life, Julie Jacobsen, a divorced mother with two young girls, Jennifer and Amanda. They were sealed February 2, 1978, in the Ogden, Utah Temple for time and all eternity. Together Blair and Julie continued to grow their blended family with four more children, Rachel, Sarah, Blair Jake, and Maren.
Blair was a lifelong athlete. He played basketball, softball, and golf recreationally and competitively, with church leagues, and with the Ogden City Fire Department.
He worked for nearly 30 years as an Ogden City fireman. He enjoyed that time serving his community and the camaraderie he shared with his fellow firemen.
Blair was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout his life. He served in various callings including as President of the High Priests Quorum, scout leader, and ward and stake athletic director. His favorite callings allowed him to share his knowledge of the outdoors and sports with the youth.
Blair spent his retirement golfing weekly. His claim to fame was hitting two hole-in-ones.
Blair is survived by his loving wife of nearly 49 years, Julie Jacobsen Sheffield; his nine children, Gary (Theresa) Sheffield, Blake (Mindy) Sheffield, Paige (Lyle) Morse, Jennifer Andersen, Amanda (Aaron) Schaad, Rachel (Nathan) Brough, Sarah Lamberson, Jake (Manuel) Sheffield, and Maren (Preston) Boswell; 17 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren (and two more on the way). A private service was held in his memory.
