Billy Jim Conn, Jr., 62, of Layton, Utah, passed away on April 1, 2024. Born on March 16, 1962, in Houston, Texas. Billy was a dedicated family man survived by his spouse Kye Conn, son Michael Conn, daughter Melissa Conn, and five siblings, Debbie Jeannine Weed, Cindy Forbes, Peggy Dianne Howell, Arthur Lewis Conn, Robert Neal Conn, and in-laws Randall Edwin Howell, and Bob Weed.

He was preceded in death by his father Billy Conn, Sr., mother Marjorie Conn, and brother-in-law Tom Forbes.

 

Billy served with honor in the United States Air Force for 22 years, specializing as a 2W071 Munitions System Craftsman from 1984 to 2006. During his military service, he received several accolades including the Air Force Commendation Medal. Oak Leaf, NCO professional Military Education graduate Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Force Overseas Ribbon -- Long Tour, Air Force Overseas Ribbon, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, and Meritorious Unit Award. He received several other honorable recognitions aside from those mentioned. He served with honor in several areas of the world, including Iraq, South Korea, and

Saudi Arabia. He has resided in several areas with his family during his lifetime, including northern Utah, Nellis Air Force Base, Dubai, Venezuela, as well as the Conroe-Houston area.

 

Billy graduated from Conroe High School on May 29, 1981 and fostered many relationships with those around him. He will be remembered as a caring man who always ensured that his family never went without necessities.

 

Outside his military career, Billy enjoyed hobbies such as collecting guns, fishing, restocking the family pond, riding motorbikes, and golfing. He also enjoyed collecting rare coins and postal stamps from all over the world. He was also an avid fan of The Walking Dead TV series. His passion for these activities brought joy to those around him.

 

A funeral service to honor and celebrate Billy’s life with be held Friday April 5, 2024 at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd., Layton, Utah where military honor will be accorded. Friends and family may visit Friday from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at the mortuary prior to the service.
