Beverly Roberts

Beverly Sill Hill Roberts, 87 of Layton passed away quietly on Mother’s Day, May 8, 2016 after spending a wonderful day visiting with her family.

Beverly was born July 7, 1928, in Layton, the oldest child of Leland C. and Montie J. Sill. She grew up and lived most of her life in Layton and graduated from the old Davis High School in 1946.

She worked at the Ogden Arsenal when she met Gordon Hill. They were married Nov. 1, 1945, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Beverly and Gordon lived a few years in Pocatello and Idaho Falls but returned to Utah where they raised their five children.  They lived in Layton since 1970. Gordon died in May 1990.

After Gordon’s death, Beverly became reacquainted with a former school mate, W. Paul Roberts. She and Paul were married April 16, 1994, in the Ogden LDS Temple. With this marriage, Beverly was blessed to become the step-mother to three additional children.

Beverly and Paul had many fun times together and took several vacations to places Beverly had never been.  Paul was a good caring husband and always treated Beverly with much respect.  He has been an excellent care giver in her later years. Beverly’s children will always be grateful for the loving care he gave to their mother.

Beverly was a hard worker, independent and very active.  She made many beautiful porcelain pieces, quilts, afghans, and other crafts.  At the age of 67, she took up golfing.  She didn’t hit the ball far but it was almost always a perfect shot.  She made many friends and enjoyed golfing every Thursday in the Swan Lake Ladies Association.  She often bragged about being able to golf with her grand-children and great-grandchildren.

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  She served in many positions in the church, at the Bishop’s storehouse and for more than 65 years as a faithful visiting teacher.

Beverly is survived by her husband Paul; five children and their spouses Linda (Wayne) Stark of South Weber; Larry Hill of Hooper, Sande Cash, Shauna (Brian) Hair, Sheryl (Scott) Starkey all of Layton, and Laura Hill of Syracuse; three stepchildren Liz (Dan) Vincent, Susan (Jeff) England, and Paul Roberts Jr. all of Layton; her sister Joan Skipton, sisters-in-law Patsy Sill of Syracuse and Marilyn (LaMar) Holt of Roy; brothers-in-law Craig (Judy) Hill serving in the Guatemala, Guatemala City LDS Mission and LaMar (Lynette) Hill of Gilbert, Arizona; 29 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildern.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Gordon, brothers Jay and DeWayne Sill.

Funeral services will be held Monday, May 16, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Evans Meadows LDS Chapel at, 752 North 3700 West, Layton, Utah.  Friends may visit family Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.

Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
