Beverly Jean Haslam

January 26, 1936 — June 23, 2025

Bountiful

Born on Jan. 26, 1936 in Tooele, UT to Eli Edson Bevan and Mary Jane Shields Bevan. She was the youngest of their 11 children. Raised in Tooele until she was 15, then moved to Bountiful, Utah to live with her sister Mary. She attended Bountiful High School her 9th and 10th grade years and Davis High School her 11th and 12th grade years, graduating in 1954.

Bev met the love of her life, Glen Evan Haslam in 1954 when they were both climbing out of a church window to escape a youth activity and decided to go get ice cream together. The two were married on June 1, 1956, one week after Glen graduated high school. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City LDS temple on Nov.4,1974.

Bev and Glen established a home in Bountiful, lovingly referred to as “the circle”, where the children were raised alongside neighbors’ children and life-long friendships were formed. In 1973, they moved to West Bountiful where they remained the rest of their lives, living in 5 different homes.

They welcomed 4 children into their marriage, Jeff (Kelly), Tye (Karen), Kris (Brittany), and Kari (Steve). From those children came 16 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. She loved her family dearly and defended and supported them fiercely. Nothing was more important to her than her family, attending countless hours of events for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Beverly held several jobs during her life including Grand Central, and Duerden’s Appliance. She received a call to help out at the West Bountiful City Hall on Nov. 22,1977 for just two weeks. She retired from the city 45 years later.

Beverly loved to serve others, volunteering countless hours within her church callings, West Bountiful Youth City Council and West Bountiful Youth Court. It would be nearly impossible to find another person who helped shape the lives of an entire generation of West Bountiful youth. She was grandma, not only to her family, but to anyone who wanted to call her that. She was not only a prankster at school, releasing chickens in the hallways, rolling a sack of potatoes down the stairs and dying everything in the home-economics room pink, but even when volunteering with the youth, she concocted an elaborate plot to scare some Youth City Council members after they snuck out of the hotel after midnight.

Once Glen passed away in 2004, she volunteered in Nauvoo, Illinois for the Nauvoo pageant for two years and even brought home a wife for one of her grandsons.

Bev led a very active and involved lifestyle. She had many friends that she socialized with consistently, even going to lunch with them right up to a few days prior to her passing. She loved to go swimming with her friends, work in her yard, and above all, be with her family. She hosted large family dinners every Sunday for whomever was able to come. She loved her Utah Jazz, no matter how bad they were. She was a BYU football fan and was even forced to be a Utah football fan on occasion.

Beverly became a resident at Creekside Assisted Living in January of 2025 as her health began to fail. She quickly became a socialite there as well, even earning an award as being the most welcoming resident and having fun at her table during meals with “the Wild Bunch”, a testament to her ability to befriend and serve others.

We will miss her laughter, her food, her chocolate chip cookies and most of all her love and support, but find peace in the fact that she’s finally reunited with the love of her life after 21 years

The family would like to thank Creekside and their medical team, as well as Ovation

Hospice, for their help with Beverly’s care over the past 6 months.
