Beverline Gooch

September 14, 1935 to May 23, 2016

On May 23rd, the world lost the most amazing bride, mother, grandmother, and best friend. Beverline Gooch was a gracious, elegant, compassionate, hospitable, artistic, and talented daughter of God. She brought culture and beauty to everything she touched. Whether it be one of the 2,000 weddings she decorated, the beautiful flowers she arranged, or memorable tea parties at Jetta’s High Society. Beverline was a woman who made an impact – on her family, those who were blessed to know her, and the community where she and her husband served on the board and worked as volunteers of the Syracuse Museum for over ten years. Her laugh was music to her family’s ears and her contagious smile always warmed their hearts.

Beverline was born September 14, 1935 in West Point, Utah to William J Edwards and Tessie Woolsey Edwards. She married Phillip C. Gooch on October 8, 1954 in Clearfield, Utah and later they were sealed together for time and all eternity in the Swiss Temple in Burn, Switzerland.  They traveled the world with the United States Air Force having children all along the way. They were blessed with 8 children and many grand and great grandchildren. They served a mission together in Outer Mongolia and made friends everywhere they went. She served in many callings in the LDS church, participated in her community and government, and wanted her children to always take their right to vote very seriously.

She is survived by her loving husband, of 61 years, Phil Gooch and her children Stephanie Gooch Burns, Jeff Gooch (Kim), Bill Gooch (Chris), Mary Petrie, Tim Gooch (Michele), Mike Gooch (Penny), Cindy Gooch, 19 grandchildren, and 36 great grandchildren and the number of greats continue to grow. She was preceded in death by her son Greg, son in-law Pat Burns, her parents and 6 siblings.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 28, 2016 at 10 a.m. at the Syracuse West Stake Center, 1600 South 4500 West, Syracuse, Utah.  Friends may visit family Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road, Layton, Utah.  Interment, West Point Cemetery.

Beverline loved the Syracuse Museum and would be honored if a donation were given in her name to support the Museum.
