Betty Lou Lawson
September 18, 1926 – December 26, 2025
Our wonderful, sweet, and loving mom, grandma, great-grandma, great-great-grandma, and cherished friend—and a true icon in the Bountiful community—Betty Lou Lawson passed away peacefully on December 26, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.
Born on September 18, 1926, in Chicago, Illinois, Betty lived a life defined by love, resilience, and devotion to family. On December 24, 1944, she married her sweetheart, Robert Stanford Lawson, in Paris, Texas. Their marriage became the foundation of a life built on commitment, shared values, and deep love.
In 1961, Betty began her career at Grand Central, working in the cosmetics department. When Grand Central later became Kroger (Smith’s), she continued her work with the company, eventually finding her place in the floral department—surrounded by beauty and bringing joy to others—where she retired in 2022. Her long career reflected who she was: dependable, kind, and always willing to give her best.
Betty was a devoted mother to four children: Robin Lawson, Katy Edwards, Denny Bennett, and Lisa Goode. Family meant everything to her, and she poured her heart into every generation that followed.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Robert Stanford Lawson; her children Lisa Goode and Robin Lawson; her daughter-in-law, Darlyne; and her sons-in-law, Denny and Norman.
From 1988 to 2017, Betty was an active and cherished part of PARC (Pioneer Adult Rehabilitation Center). During those years, she helped organize and put on three dances each year in partnership with the Bountiful Elks, with loving support from her immediate family. This work reflected her joy in community, service, and bringing people together.
Betty Lou changed the lives of so many in the Bountiful community and beyond. She would have given the shirt off her back to anyone in need and was always ready to help however she could. She was truly special to so many and gave generously to those around her, offering kindness, support, and love without hesitation. Betty was a light in this world, and her light will be deeply missed.
She is survived by six grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and fourteen great-greatgrandchildren, with one precious great-great-grandchild on the way—each a living reminder of the love she gave so freely.
Betty was loved and cherished by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She lived life to the fullest and was truly one of the kindest souls anyone could ever have the privilege of meeting. Her warmth, strength, and gentle spirit will live on through the many lives she touched.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Barton Creek for their exceptional love and care shown to our mom, grandma, great-grandma, and great-great-grandma. A very special thank you goes to her granddaughter Natalie, who devoted the last three years to caring for Grandma every single day with unwavering love, patience, and compassion. Her dedication was a true gift and will always be remembered.
