Betty Mae Hartman

August 31, 1931 ~ May 26, 2022

Betty Mae Hartman, 90 passed away May 26, 2022, just 6 weeks after her sweetheart.

Betty was born August 31, 1931, in Sanford, CO to Clint R and Laura Mae Mortensen. In her youth she lived in Colorado, Utah, and Arizona. She attended Davis High and graduated from Mesa High in Mesa, AZ. She returned to Utah with her family settling in Sunset where she met Gayle her husband of 71+ years while working at the grocery store.

On June 30, 1950, Betty married her sweetheart, Gayle E Hartman. They had five children who loved and adored her more than words can say. Randy (deceased) & (Lynette) Hartman, Idaho Falls, ID., Russ Hartman, Boulder, CO, Ronn & (Diane) Hartman, Mountain Green, UT, Sue & (Mike) Fahnert, Kihei, HI, Steve & (Tina) Hartman, Clinton, UT. She was blessed with 14 Grandchildren, 27 Great-grandchildren, and one Great-great-grandchild.

Betty had her hands full with five kids and a busy horseman for a husband. She was always involved with her kids, Primary Teacher, Cub Scout Leader, PTA President, Young Women’s Camp Leader and always up for a good backyard pickup game with the boys and their friends. Once all the kids were in school Mom went to work, she was employed at the old Sunset Sporting Goods Store, Dry Cleaners in Clearfield, DMV in Farmington, and her last job was at IRS until she retired to play golf and travel with Dad.

She made many friends along the way and always had people laughing. Mom was always up for a good time, cooking, shopping, dining, dancing, golfing and had some really great one liners. In her later years as Dementia took over, she never lost her sense of humor or quick wit. She was the entertainer at Raintree Assisted Living for the past six years and kept everyone laughing. She was fiercely loyal to her family and friends and would go to bat in a heartbeat. She was the best and toughest Grandma around and spoiled whichever grandchild got lucky enough to spend time with her. We will forever miss her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Brian Mortensen; her oldest son, Randy Hartman; and most recently her husband, Gayle. We’ll see you again Mom, give Dad a big hug and have fun catching up with family and friends.

Thank you to all our friends and family who have supported our family during this difficult time. Thank you to all the special caregivers at Raintree Assisted Living in Syracuse, she loved you all. A special Thanks to Atlas Hospice, Crystal her RN, and her care givers.
