Betty Jean Goble, age 90, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s residence on April 9, 2026. She was born on September 13, 1935, in Ogden, Utah, to her loving parents, John Alberts and Alida Meibos.
Betty grew up in South Ogden near the golf course, an area she always spoke fondly. She enjoyed a wonderful childhood and carried those cherished memories and stories with her throughout her life. She graduated from Weber High School in 1953 and shortly thereafter married Ray Ward. Together, Betty and Ray were blessed with four children. During their family life, Betty worked alongside Ray by helping in his auto body shop, assisting with prepping cars, while also devotedly caring for their home and children. Some of her favorite family memories from this time were spent camping at Bear Lake, a cherished tradition and highlight of many summers with Ray and their children.
She later married Ed Goble on her birthday, September 13, 1977. Through this marriage, Betty welcomed Ed’s children—Marlowe, Doug, Carol, and Deserae—into her life and family.
Betty was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served in many callings. Her favorite role was serving in Primary, where her love for children and service truly shined.
While raising her family, Betty enjoyed being a stay-at-home mother and took great pride in maintaining an immaculate home. Later in life, she worked at Cream O’ Weber, Max Factor, and American Gourmet Food. She concluded her working years alongside her sister, Joyce, as a lunch lady at Midland Elementary School, a job she truly enjoyed.
Betty loved golfing with her late husband and spent countless evenings cheering on her favorite basketball team, the Utah Jazz. She attended several Jazz games with her dear friend Wilda, creating memories she treasured deeply. Betty was known for her friendly and welcoming nature, she made friends easily and valued meaningful relationships. She loved spending time with her many dear friends at the St. Mark’s Garden community.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Alida Alberts; her husband, Ed Goble; her daughter, Cindy Luncsford; her son, John Ward; her granddaughter, Cara Luncsford; her grandson, Michael Minardi; her brother, Jack Alberts, and his wife, Janice; and her brother-in-law, Dale Christensen.
She is survived by her children, Pam (Gary) Minardi and Craig (Rhonda) Ward; her stepchildren, Marlowe, Doug, Carol, and Deserae; her sister, Joyce Christensen; eleven grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, all of whom will miss her deeply and remember her loving spirit.
In her later years Betty loved attending the temple, she had a strong testimony of her savior Jesus Christ and looked forward to the day that she would be reunited with loved ones.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Canyon Hospice, especially Jamie, Ryleigh, Bruce, and Chris, as well as the caring staff at St. Mark’s Gardens, for their compassion, kindness, and support.
