Betty V. Gardner OGDEN – Betty Viola Evans Sickler Gardner, 83, died Monday, May 21, 2007 at a local care center of causes incident to age. She was born August 31, 1923 in Ogden, a daughter of Raymond Edward and Ilah May Dean Evans. Her father died when she was three years old and Ilah later married Sidney Sickler. He raised Betty and her brothers and sisters. On November 21, 1941, Betty married Everett Eugene Gardner in Ogden. Everett preceded her in death on May 31, 1983. She was raised and educated in Ogden graduating from Ogden High School. She lived in San Manuel, Arizona for 25 years, returning to Ogden in 1978. Betty was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in various teaching positions throughout the years. She enjoyed embroidering, was a wonderful homemaker, and her family and home were the most important things in her life. Betty is survived by two daughters and two sons and, Stella (Wilson) Copeland, Tucson, AZ; RayeAnn Archer, West Jordan; Sydney (Celeste) Gardner and Walter (Joy) Gardner, both of Ogden; 16 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Donna Rynhart, Ogden; Joyce Cosentino, St. George. Preceding her in death were her husband Everett, granddaughter Toni Chisum, son-in-law Cecil Archer, her parents, stepfather, two sisters, Alice Ray and Ilah Fay, and two brothers, Dean and Sidney Jr. The family would like to express their thanks to the staffs of Hospice For Utah and Wasatch Care Center for their devotion and care of our mother. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may call at the mortuary on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday 10 to 10:45 a.m. Interment, Evanston, Wyoming City Cemetery.
