Bessie Edwina Bammes, of South Salt Lake, passed away on November 17, 2025, at Intermountain Medical Center. She was born on July 4, 1973, in Logan, Utah, the first child of Bruce Edward Bammes and Ruth Edwina Stewart Bammes, who preceded her in death. Born late but weighing only 6 pounds, 13 ounces, Bessie was welcomed into the world with joy.
As the eldest of five children, Bessie was a devoted big sister. Her childhood took her through Utah, Colorado, and Arizona, but she was especially glad when her family settled in Salt Lake City.
Weekends often found Bessie visiting her Uncle Dan at the radio station where he worked, soaking in the sounds and stories. Bessie attended East High School, where she found joy in Pep Club and singing with her A Cappella group—memories made even sweeter by the chance to perform at the Salt Lake Tabernacle.
She was also an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, participating in service projects and community activities that reflected her generous spirit.
Bessie worked her way through college, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Women’s Studies from the University of Utah. She went on to serve as a social worker for the State of Utah, offering care and support to those in need.
She loved to read and could often be found reading or listening to a book.
In recent years, Bessie lived with her three sisters, sharing laughter, love, and everyday grace. She will be deeply missed.
Bessie is survived by her sisters—Rebekah Bammes, Susannah Bammes, and Roberta Bammes; her brother, Benjamin Bammes; her nephew, Aidan Bammes; three aunts, two uncles, and a host of beloved cousins.
The family has chosen to have a private memorial service to be held at a later time.
Arrangements entrusted to Lindquist’s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 N. Main St., Kaysville, Utah.
