Benjamin Verno Hunt
Our loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, Benjamin Verno Hunt, 94, passed away 10 days short of his 95th birthday on Monday, September 3, 2012 in Ogden, Utah. Ben was born in Aurora, Utah to Willis Lafeyette and Rua Ett Watson Hunt on September 13, 1917. He enjoyed growing up in Green River, Utah where he was a true cowboy. He later settled in Ogden where he raised his family.
Ben served in the infantry during World War II. A few short months after returning from service, he married the love of his life, Glenna Sargent, on June 4, 1946 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary in 2011. Glenna passed away on February 23, 2012.
He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many callings including in the Bishopric, Stake Missionary, and served a full time mission with his wife in the San Jose California Mission. Ben served as a temple worker in the Ogden LDS Temple.
Ben enjoyed fishing, camping and prospecting in the desert, but his greatest love was spending time with his family, especially eating popcorn and drinking homemade rootbeer on Sunday nights. His wonderful outdoor cooking will be greatly missed. He thoroughly enjoyed riding horses and is the last survivor of the Green River Cowboys.
Ben is survived by his sons, Dean B. (Becky) Hunt and Mark S Hunt; daughters, Louise (J. Richard) Shupe, Joyce (Randall L) Sobieski, and Martha (Douglas C.) Saunders; 21 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren and sisters, Ina Spadafora and Janet Tucker.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Glenna; parents; 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2012 at 1 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 11:30 to 12:30 p.m. at the mortuary.
Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
