Barbara Hall Herrmann

Age: Eternal

When: Spring Equinox 2017

Hi y’all, it’s been difficult the past few months but thought I’d let you know what’s going on and where I am. I’ve contracted this crazy physical process that makes your normal cellular growth abby-normal. This abby process overwhelms normal cell growth and disrupts your vital organ functions and eventually starts to shut them down. Of course, the aging process has also aided this abby-normal situation.

Once upon a time, long ago, I chose this bodily process and manifestly came into the Hall family. I had a great time being a military brat through the 50’s and 60’s gone by, good travels, great family, Dad, Mom, Wanda, Jerry, and of course, Me. Having southern relatives was a wonderful experience in heritage (sometimes strange), along with great food and fun. I really loved life, and especially college life in the north eastern United States, but my adult life in the west was the gem (best).

Raising two beautiful sons out west, Greg and Nate, and participating in their lives development gave me experiences of wonder and joy only a Mom can truly appreciate. Oh, and I also met this cute guy named Robert; my Mom called him a Greek god. She always over-stated things, but he did have personality, my favorite part of him.

My professional career spanned several decades and I was fortunate to work for some great companies. I spent the bulk of my career peddling critical products and services to major airports around the world and also had a brief, but interesting stint in the fascinating oil and gas industry. My wonderful career gave me the ability to craft my administrative, marketing, management, and leadership skills and also allowed me the great fortune of circling the globe several times. But the real wonders and enjoyment in my career were the encounters with co-workers, friends, customers and support people I encountered along the way. I am so thankful to them for allowing me to participate with them in very enjoyable and rewarding endeavors.

Since retiring in 2010, I have had the great pleasure of spending precious time with family and close friends and have taken some very memorable vacations. I have also journeyed to spend time in special places I love. I worked to hone my gardening skills in my especially beautiful little garden plot, developed by Robert and our dear friends, Russ and Sherri Beus. I have also spent time sewing, cooking, canning fruits and veggies, and sometimes even helping to shovel snow. I lived the retirement I had dreamed of, trying to make each day count - no regrets!

For the past 20 years, my abode has been on the magical Evening Star Drive, a charming and picturesque little spot with an alpine view second to none. I thoroughly enjoyed opening our home and celebrating special occasions, holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, evenings with full-moon risings, bonfires on chilly nights, and company BBQ’s on the back lawn.

My husband Robert and our sons, Gregory and Nathanael were my true gifts through this life, without which I would not have experienced all of these wonderful material and emotional joys and pleasures my physical manifestation allowed me. Nate added my beautiful daughter, Jennifer, to the mix, who would fulfill any Mom’s dream come true. I was also blessed with many caring friends who made my family seem much larger. Special thanks to all of you and especially the Beus’, Carvers, Hoffmans, Mannens, Nappers, Yeckleys, Jack and Carol, Jim and Radeane, Marc and Brenda, and the late Colin MacDonald.

Love to chat more and communicate with you more, but I have got these other travel plans. I’ve got my ticket to Heaven and Everlasting Life and am ready to head out to Paradise.

Love to All

Forever…..Babsie

P.S. A special heart-felt thanks to all the dedicated doctors, talented and caring nurses and all the competent support staff at McKay-Dee Hospital. The grace and well-being they afforded me and my family in the course of my difficult illness was an incredible blessing. We would appreciate you not sending flowers but donate same $ to the Utah Cancer Foundation, website, utahcancerfoundation.com, in my name.

A memorial celebration gathering will be held for family and friends at the Ogden Golf and Country Club, 4197 S. Washington Blvd., Ogden, Utah on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at noon.  Services entrusted to Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary.
